Plex not recognising all my TV shows

I was using Plex on my Windows 10 computer and have all my TV shows on an external HDD.

I’ve now switched over to using an Apple Mac Mini M2 pro and installed plex onto that.

I have 36 different film series on my external HDD but Plex will only recognise the first 20 of them.

I have tried removing a series from the HDD and then putting it back on but still no change,

Is there something I’ve missed as Plex on my Windows 10 machine recognised all 36 film series?

This is almost always due to naming or file structure.

As a new install you might be using a newer agent/scanner which may be less tolerant to the naming format you have

If you post an example of how something is named I can tell you what you need to fix or at least rule that out as a cause

Make sure everything follows Plex’s guidelines. The scanner does get tweaked occasionally, so if your files don’t follow those guidelines, there are no guarantees that naming that worked a few months/years ago will get scanned in the same way. Even if you have the right structure and sXXeYY in the file names, another thing to watch out for is extra subfolders. Plex expects the folder you give it to have individual show folders, so if you e.g. have something like

/data/TV/
  HD/
    Show1 (year)/
    Show2 (year)/
  SD/
    Show3 (year)/
    Show4 (year)/

you would have to add both /data/TV/HD/ and /data/TV/SD/ to Plex, not just /data/TV/.

If you’ve checked all of that (and tried the Plex Dance with the shows) and Plex still isn’t scanning things correctly, posting the full path to a few episodes Plex isn’t recognizing would help troubleshooting.
