Help me understand what happened here because it was working fine a couple days ago now it says unavailable.
Was there an automated update to the Plex app that broke functionality that caused Sony to make it unavailable? If that’s the case can’t it just be rolled back?
Secondly, I don’t like the idea that Sony can just go in and remove apps from our devices that we have downloaded without there being a major security risk associated with said app.
So something interesting I found this evening after reading some of the comments posted by the other members.
So There are 2 app stores on the Sony Bravia TV:
The first major list of apps are listed under the Home button on your Sony Bravia remote, the Plex app in this app store has been discontinued and/or shutdown. This is the app that everyone is finding does not work.
The second app store is named OPERA, there is a Plex app in this store that does work and the only disadvantage here is you can’t move or pin this Plex app on the main screen when you select the Home button. If you decide to use the Plex app in the Opera store then you will need to access the Opera app to gain access to the Plex app everytime.
The Opera app store can be found under the Bravia android app store and you do have the ability to pin the Opera app store on the main page of the Home screen when the Home button is selected.

I have always been a faithful Sony customer I guess my next Sony will be something other than a Sony. I do a lot of research on all products and vehicles before making a purchase.
I trust this info will help the rest of you with this ongoing issue.
Well please understand that newer Sonys (for a few years now) use Android TV and all app distribution is done through the Google Play Store. You can even sideload your own apps.
It’s not worked for a few weeks now, are you updating the opera app to be more inline with the new interface or does this mean the opera version of plex is dead ?
I have a PS3 hooked up to my Sony TV and the Plex on the PS3 works fine through the TV. I would think the PS app would be similar to the TV one but only one works.

However, since this particular application is developed by a third party service, we will certainly do our best to accommodate it as there is only so much we can do, but if the developer has not made the App available to your television or periodically checked up on it, we are afraid that this would be out of our control as the manufacturer of the television.
