Back again. Now my Sony TV won’t play any media while my laptop has no issues at all. I’ve included the error messages I’m seeing in the web console. Maybe you can make sense of these as it doesn’t give much indication as to what went wrong so I’m stuck waiting for your assistance…
Okay, two weeks gone. What’s new? Or will this go same way as Microsoft store app where Plex staff just ignore any requests for info? I am getting tired of this. Either you decided to abandon the app, so let us know, or you are working on it, so, again, let us know. It’s called communication. We could use some.
@markus101 & @deactivated - guys we’re on week 6 with nothing from plex on what the situation is ?
Come on guys give us a clue ???
Also why have you abandoned development of the opera version, there must be numbers to support it’s up keep otherwise why release it to begin with.
Plex please be aware that upkeep of your players is equally as important as bringing out new ones on other platforms. Otherwise you’ll alienate your loyal customers … aka me !
I don’t have any news to share, we’re still working with Vewd to rectify the issue and understand the two entry paths to the same app as Vewd is our channel for publishing the app for Sony devices.
As for the app itself, performance is a big reason why we haven’t brought the app to more platforms and devices, in the end that may not be the only reason, but it’s a considerable hurdle for us on older devices.
The cause of this issue has been identified and Vewd/Sony are working on a fix, but haven’t provided a timeline on when it will be fixed. They have recommended launching the app through the Vewd (Opera) store for the time being.
Unfortunately Vewd has advised as of of June 30th, 2019 Sony Smart TVs not running Android will no longer have access to the Vewd store and subsequently the Plex application. Sony Bluray players will losing access to the Vewd store and Plex app ahead of the smart TVs on March 20th, 2019. This is not a decision we made to pull the app from the store and to our knowledge will affect all other apps on those platforms.
Well currently, the opera store work around has stopped working for me. My video is not playing but the audio is. The solution to see video is to add subtitles and then it works…
Great… so, if we can’t have plex app on our TV, there is no reason to not switch to a pure DLNA software (and free!). Serviio, Universal Media Server, etc…
Surely this is just a matter of money? How much do plex/vewd need to buy back into sony?
maybe we can all have a whip-round for you?? - I’m serious, how much would the deal cost?
It’s cheaper for me to find an alternative to plex than buy a new tv / apple tv, xbox etc, come on dudes, there must be a solution somewhere?
I don’t get it. In sony app store from the TV, there is opera store, plex, Netflix, YouTube and much more. All of them work without issues, except plex. Plex only works now by finding another shortcut inside opera store (that’s now called wevd after entering the app…)
Could someone clarify why all other apps work but not plex, tge usual way? And that the above news means that all apps are going to stop working on older Bravia tvs, YouTube and Netflix too…!?
