I don’t appear to backup the logs on my other NAS. Only the databases.
If you wish, you can increase the default log retention counter.
Add logNumFiles="x" where x is the number you wish to keep.
By default, PMS keeps 5 rollover logs at 10MB each.
Add this to Preferences.xml when PMS is stopped.
I’ve just turned on backups for the logs
So are there two different problems going on, do we need a separate ticket for Error bringing media local ?
I would like to continue this thread “Stopped Adding Images” and investigate it.
Any DEBUG logs (the ZIP which includes the agent logs) will give me information to look at.
I’ve been chatting with the developers.
-
They retired one part of the service which won’t have any impact but could report as a false error in certain cases. This is one task for me to investigate
-
Images not returning at all – This is the primary task.
So a little extra information about this. For me it is only the automatic movie poster/background pull that fails. If I manually select one, I can see all the options available to me.
Also I have a plex server on a Windows box and one on the the Synology pointed at the same files.
The Windows version of plex does not have this issue. The Synology version of Plex does, but only after the last update. There was no issue prior to that.
The Windows and Synology versions use the same source code.
So what’s the difference?
Is there a / or \ in the name?
Anyone tried rolling back to the last .spk on their Syno and see if metadata starts importing again?
I’ve been manually setting them for the time being. If you try it, please let us know
Welp that was a short test, notified by the synology when selecting the previous plex spk “You cannot downgrade to a previous version”
Uninstall the current installed first. No harm will come to your metadata.
I don’t delete it when you uninstall.
Synology imposes the “never downgrade” restriction.
Thanks for the tip ChuckPA, I can confirm rolling back to PlexMediaServer-1.18.2.2041-3d469cb32-x86_64.spk fixes the problem, images are loading again when added and when I select “Refresh Metadata” on an individual movies/series
Please grab the logs as quickly as possible (ZIP) and post them.
I will take them back to engineering and hopefully they can see the difference.
Hopefully I got them fast enough (about 1hr after upgrading). If not I can upgrade, try some refreshes, then downgrade again and try some refreshes. Whatever is needed
Now, for the next part.
- stop Plex
- Delete (in the Plex share)
Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-in Support/Data/HTTPCaches - Install the current release
- Start it when installing
- Create a new test library section with a small folder.
- See if it grabs posters correctly - It should.
HTTPCaches folder doesn’t exist for me
This is what I have in my Data folder:
com.plexapp.agents.fanarttv

Follow up. I didn’t install anything, or change anything. I just deleted everything out of the Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-in Support/Data folder and restarted the server. Next movie I added, the image added automatically.
This is all on 1.18.2.2058
Can confirm that this solved the issue for me without having to uninstall and reinstall Plex. Thanks devonuto
I upgraded to PlexMediaServer-1.18.3.2156-349e9837e-x86_64.spk but metadata images still would not download. So I stopped plex, deleted everything inside “Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-in Support/Data” and restarted plex, image metadata now downloads fine.
Would like to know if everyone getting this error in the logs
Invalid header value '__cfduid=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx\r' migrated Plex Media Server from windows to Linux at some point in the past ?
Also would like to have a look zipped copy of each of these files for anyone still getting the error
