Plex remote access issues - cannot connect securely

I also believe I’m suffering from the same certificate issue. Can you please check?

Please wait at least 10 minutes, then stop and restart your Plex server.

Is there any other issues going on? I changed nothing and all of a sudden I can’t access mine remotely. Very odd stuff. Tried everything.

I too believe this could be the reason I can no longer connect remotely. Can you please check?

I believe I may also be affected by this issue, can you check my certificate?

Hello, I’ve been having issues with remote access over the past couple of days, could you check to see if it’s a cert issue? Thx!

Please start and stop your Plex server now, unless you see a moderator edit in your original post above. If you are not affected by this particular issue, I have added a note in there.
Maybe take a look at Important note about Chrome and Firefox Local Network Access
and do also compare the hosted web app with the local web app.
Do compare different Plex client types in general, in order to determine if the issue can be connected to a certain client type.
Ensure that you are not on an old server version between 1.41.7.x to 1.42.0.x

If there are still issues, please open your own forum thread.

There has been a new Plex app version on the Roku platform last week. From now on, the new rules regarding remote connections are enforced there as well. just like the other Plex client platforms. Here is a detailed account what these changes entail: https://www.plex.tv/blog/important-2025-plex-updates/
As a result, it is now much more consequential whether your server is only accessible in a different logical network, or in public IP address ranges. See Client says it won't play from "remote server", although the server is local for a list of things to check.

I have been struggling with this issue as well for a few weeks, are you able to see if I am also affected?

Thank you so much!

Thank you @OttoKerner . I went to Remote Access in my server settings today and it seems to be holding. I didn’t perform the manual stop/start you suggested, but if this behavior happens again I’ll be sure to try that first! Not sure if you manually reset my certificate for me? Whatever you did do I appreciate your help. :folded_hands:

I have been having trouble with remote access outside my network since switching computers. Can you check if it is a cert issue please?

Hi there, just another to add to the list with this issue - thanks for your help!

[mod edit: you are not affected by a stuck certificate.]

Today I updated my Plex Media Server to version 1.42.2.10156 and have not been able to access any of my content on Plex for a few hours. I keep receiving an error message “Plex on ‘Media Server Name’ is currently unavailable”

Do I have a certification issue? If so what do I do?

Could you please check mine too? Thanks

Mine is suddenly broken, too. Can you please help?

Ok worked out my specific issue. It’s either the recent update to plex I have applied on my NAS or an update to MS Edge browser.
When on the plex Home page ( https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/ ) I clicked the padlock icon in the browser address bar and a drop down comes up. In the drop-down is an option “Local network access” and I selected allowed (it was “block” initially).
Fixed!

That’s what is mentioned in here: Important note about the Plex Web app - Local Network Access

In general, peruse this list carefully: Client says it won't play from "remote server", although the server is local
The requirement for Plex Pass or Remote Watch Pass to stream from a remote server is successively enforced in more and more client types.
“Remote” is defined by the server being located in a different LAN than the client.
Which means that even the “bridged” network access of a Docker container moves the Plex server within that container into a different LAN. The only way is to use “host network”.

I believe I am having the same issue. I have gone through all the steps that roniekk did
