Plex remote access issues - cannot connect securely

This is also occurring for me I believe.

Get this error on the webpage when trying to access: app.plex.tv is unable to connect to “Media Server - Odin” securely

Its “Secure connections” setting may be set to disabled, or you may need to adjust some settings on your network.

Server log shows the same error as Nails1226’s post above mine.

Hi, I am also having this issue after manually deleting an expired cert that would not renew automatically. Tried waiting an hour and still getting 429 Rate Limit Exceeded.

May 16, 2026 19:34:54.202 [140408294099768] ERROR - CERT: Error acquiring new certificate: Failed to upload CSR: 429, <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<errors>
  <error code="1003" message="API rate limit exceeded" status="429"/>
</errors>

Would appreciate assistance. Thanks in advanced!

[user edit: Works now. Thanks OttoKerner!]

I am experiencing the same issue my logs show the same issues with Failed to upload CSR: 429 and API rate limit. I am attempted to manually delete the expired cert with no success.

[user edit: Working now. Thank you.]

I am having the same issue as OP. I have verified i am not on CGNAT, have an open port, no vpn, server ip is reserved. I can not access on any devices using the app on wifi or cellular. I can still access on the direct web link or via the windows app if I allow for unsecure connections.

When i retry manual port forwarding on the plex settings it says my server can be accessed externally until i click off of that menu, then it goes back to saying it failed.

[User edit: that worked, thank you!]

Is this still an issue? My server stopped allowing remote access today. Sitll works on local IP. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello, I have the same problem with my certificate. I opened the port directly, but remote access still won’t work.

Checking in to see if you can check my certificate as well. Thanks for your help!

[mod edit: your server’s certificate is valid and well. Whatever your issue is, it has nothing to do with the cert.]

[user edit: Thanks!]

I’m having issues as well, can you check me too

You might want to edit your post to redact/obfuscate the public IP address in the URL you shared (the 4 dash-separated digits).

I have stopped and restarted my server multiple times over the course of this past weekend, including just a few minutes ago. I can access the server through the web app through Firefox, not Chrome, but I still can’t access the server through the mobile/tablet apps, my TV app or anywhere else to be honest. This has been an issue for me since Saturday May 16th, 2026 and Starting and stopping it has not fixed it. Any further guidance would be greatly appreciated.

My streaming devices and mobile apps can no longer access my Plex server either. Works fine in the browser. I do have 429 errors in my logs.
