can I get my cert checked?
Your cert looks fine to me @chazdontplay. Do you get the error like above in your server logs? There is a DNS issue that is affecting things right now that will hopefully be solved soon.
Help with a brand-new server stuck on “Not Reachable” (looks like the new Let’s Encrypt cert chain)
Hey folks! Just set up a fresh Plex server today and I’m running into the remote access gremlin — it flashes “available” for a second, then flips back to “Not Reachable”
when I refresh. I went down a bit of a rabbit hole and I think I found the culprit, so hopefully this saves a mod some digging. ![]()
It looks like my plex.direct certificate is chaining to Let’s Encrypt’s brand-new “Generation Y” root (ISRG Root YR), which the trust stores haven’t picked up yet — so the
HTTPS reachability check just can’t validate it.
A few details in case they help:
- machineIdentifier: 78acf012e1048b90846aa41670ed5705584c28ac
- Version: 1.43.2.10687-563d026ea (macOS, Apple Silicon)
- Account: gxantor@gmail.com
I did a fair bit of troubleshooting first so we can skip the usual suspects:
- Not double-NAT/CGNAT — my router has the public IP.
- Port forwarding is good — tested from my phone on mobile data and it reaches :8443 and returns the MediaContainer XML over HTTP.
- Firewall’s off, server’s listening on *:32400, and I’m signed in fine.
- Turning off Secure Connections didn’t help (publishing just fails with a 422), so that’s a dead end.
Here’s the cert my server is handing out:
- leaf: CN=*..plex.direct, issued by Let’s Encrypt CN=YR1
- intermediate: CN=YR1, issued by ISRG CN=Root YR (chains to the new Gen-Y root instead of being cross-signed to X1)
- freshly issued Jun 12 2026, so it’s not an expiry thing
And the log bits:
- SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate (on a GET to my plex.direct:8443/identity)
- CERT: incomplete TLS handshake from 34.202.97.122: tlsv1 alert unknown ca (that’s Plex’s own reachability prober getting turned away)
Would one of you be able to reset/re-issue my cert so it comes back on the cross-signed Root X1 chain? More than happy to restart the server once it’s done. Thanks so much
for the help!
Hello I believe I am having certificate issues also:
Jun 15, 2026 18:56:25.514 [139763512830776] Warning — [CERT] TLS connection from 92.40.204.70:61671 came in with unrecognized plex.direct SNI name '83-217-174-246.84a53367008d43ba97d36dd59666d1cd.plex.direct'; using installed plex.direct cert
Jun 15, 2026 18:56:25.576 [139763510721336] Debug — CERT: incomplete TLS handshake from 92.40.XXX.XX:61671: sslv3 alert certificate unknown (SSL routines)
I’ve started to run into this as well. Any chance of checking my cert? I’ve restarted my PMS several times as well and the issue is still there.
[mod edit: your server’s certificate is valid and well.]
Same issue here, can you please check?
I’ve gone through all the router and server settings
[mod edit: your server’s certificate is valid and well.]
I seem to also be having this issue. Is it possible to check. Thanks.
[mod edit: Please stop and restart your server now.]
May my certificate be renewed? Cannot access my Plex server outside my local network

Can I get my certificate renewed? Cannot access my Plex server outside my local network

I’m also currently having issues of suddenly having no remote access and it says "Your server is signed in to Plex, but is not reachable from outside your network"
Just started having this problem last Friday 26th June and I tried Manual port but it goes back to red in few seconds. Also tried to logout and login, restart laptop, uninstalled Plex Media Server and install again but still same issues.
[mod edit: your server’s certificate is valid and well. It has been refreshed ~1 week ago.]
Hi, I’m also expreiencing issue with the remote access. On the server the remote access will show green and then turn red stating “not available for remote access”. I understand there might be some certificate issue. May a mod look at my server ?
[mod edit: Please stop and restart your server now.]
I am also experiencing problems with remote access, exactly as the user above described. Is there anything that can be done?
I’m facing the same issue.
Did you find a way to make mobile app and app.plex.tv to work again ?
[mod edit: your server’s certificate is valid and well. It has been refreshed ~1 week ago.]
Potentially some remote access issues again - for the last few hours now I’ve had sonos intermittently popping up with “unable to connect to plex” and keeping asking for reauthorising, as well as popping up saying it’s using a new device to access plex, tracks skipping etc. The IPs it’s trying to access are ones I understand are owned by Plex. I’ve removed authorisation and redone and rebooted everything locally which hasn’t made a lot of difference… it’s basically similar issues to when Plex has had remote access issues before but nothing’s been acknowledged yet
It’s still happening - how do we report this officially?
[mod edit: The certificate of one of your servers is valid and well. It has been refreshed ~1 week ago. I have refreshed the cert of the other serer. Please stop and restart it now.]
Were you able to solve issue? Any update on this? How to get certificate renewed as looks like that solved it for others.
Still experiencing same issue when I restarted
Go back to your original thread and post some debug logs to diagnose.
