Plex Server Crashes Randomly!

Server Version#: 3.104.2
Player Version#: N/A

I am running the following:

Del PowerEdge R610 - Windows 2008 R2 Server
2 x Xeon X5570 2.93GHZ
16gb RAM
OS Drive - 200gb (RAID 1)
Media Drive - 21.8TB (RAID 6) - Free Space 6TB
RamDisk - 10GB

When I try to watch a movie via plex it shows offline. When i log into the plex server I see plex running in bottom left but when I hover over it disappears! The only way to fix this issues is that i have to reboot the server.

The server work fine for days and then it does the same thing again. I have to do this 3-5x a week!

Please help!

Thanks

What user account are you using(standard user/user with admin privileges/the built-in ADMIN account, etc…)?

I am having the same issue.

Server Build 1.16.5.1488
Windows 10
Intel NUC BOXNUC8i5BEH1 (i5, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD)

I have Tautulli docker running on my unRAID NAS which alerts me when it crashes so I have some good time frames to the issue. It’s random. Just today it crashed twice.

I have plex installed with default configs which appears to have it running as my local admin account. Is the service account the way to go? Would that resolve the issue?

I am using local administrator on a standalone server.

I hear this is not the best idea for running plex. Can’t remember the specifics. I think @OttoKerner may be able to help explain the potential problems.

I just rebuilt the box with Ubuntu 18.04 desktop and the issues are no more!

I have been having my Plex Server Crash Randomly lately.

Version 1.18.1.2019
Windows 10 Pro
Intel i9 9900K
32 GB DDR4 RAM

Any Ideas of where to look to find the cause or just rebuild the server?

I am also running Emby on this server and have been doing so without issue for years and now in the last few months Plex randomly crashes. I have tried nearly everything.

I had this issue starting with version 1973, and version 2019 does the same thing. Rolling back to version 1.18.0.1944 fixes the issue for me.
