Plex Server Crashing Randomly

I am getting logs like can’t allocate ram and crashes soon after with this latest update. Spent years with no issues and this one has been causing alot of headaches. Last update server ran fine + did hardware checks to confirm no bad ram sectors (Windows 10 pro).

Mine has started randomly doing this too. Simple fix of exiting the server and restarting but not always at all convenient. And if I’m remote it’s a real pain connecting to the server over Teamviewer on a phone :grinning:

I’m guessing Plex don’t provide support anymore even to Plex Pass subscribers?

I’m noticing the same problem lately including up to the latest Public Channel release (1.26.2.5797). I’m not a DVR user for what it’s worth.

there is a new release 1.27 … i am installing it now.
i also posted to the most recent blog post requesting that SOMEONE reply to this thread.

plex crashed again at somepoint since last night.

logs attached in reply to this post

Plex Media Server Logs_2022-06-05_19-16-25.zip (4.0 MB)

Be careful with that, I suggest waiting a bit before hopping to update for now. Quite a few people have reported database issues with that update.

I have also been experiencing random Plex Server crashes for several weeks now. There is not much to see in the event logs. I have 5 servers and they are all doing it. A reboot fixes it for a while but it usually crashes again within 24 hours. Prior to crashing the system seems to run slow and then the web interface stops responding. I have updated to the latest Plex Server version with a Plex Pass. I am running Plex Media Server on Microsoft Windows Server 2019 or 2022.

Just wanted to chime-in and mention I too have been having 1-2 server crashes per week on Windows for the past month or so. I do not use the DVR.

Win server 2016 crashing here. Event log normally just shows error in NTDLL.DLL… plex debug logs are not showing anything before the crash. If i am lucky I am getting 24hours stable. I had to take down my server to add some more drives and decided good time to update windows, bad idea. Before I updated windows, I stayed on current plex versions and think my uptime was over 90 days with only app restarts once a week or two for new versions of plex

Hi pvk8336,

I’d suggest upgrading to the latest Public release, but I’m no expert either.

The latest “Public” release is Version 1.26.2.5797.

I believe you updated into beta. That beta release appears to be plagued with bugs.

uh oh i already updated. Plex keeps crashing.
its every day now.

utterly ridiculous.

I’m having similar issues. Has crashed the last two days in a row. Running windows 10 pro on my server and not recording. On 1.26.0.5715. Something I noticed. The cpu chart under dashboard starts to show the plex cpu curve drop out. It drops out more and more then it becomes unstable then crashes.

I’ve had the same problem for the last 3-4 days on my Ubuntu laptop where the plexserver crashes or refuses to start. I tried all the standard tricks to get it back up, did no go. Removed and reinstalled Plex (a major headache as I have almost 2,000 files in my libraries and it takes over a day to relearn all the files. Not to mention resetting all the security on the different folders. Before, Plex would crash when trying to access a series file on the TV client. Now, even Plexserver won’t run. (It did for the better part of today, then tonight it crashed and will not connect.).

I have the same thing going on in my event viewer, Plex 1.27.0.5889and 1.26.5797 Beta crashing I have a separate post with logs and everything pointing to that dll file.

What’s going lately! Same as everyone else. Plex Media Server freezing/crashing every 2 days or so. Have to manually crash the exe and restart it. Is it because of a recent update? I can’t wait not to have a text anymore saying my server is not working.

another week of issues and no plex support person has replied

my plex server crashes EVERY DAY no.w

this is absolutely ridiculous
How do you escalate an issue so someone sees it

also why is there only a 32-bit version?
Why is there no 64-bit version?
The majority of windows OS is 64-bit…

I am also getting daily (and sometimes more than once a day) crashes running PMS on a Windows 10 VM.

I just opened my own topic about this - Then I found this one.

I’ve also been experiencing random crashes for the past few weeks. Multiple times per day.
I think in the past 4 years or so, my server had crashed maybe twice?

Windows 7, I don’t do DVR.

Think I might attempt to roll back a few versions & see what happens.
