Plex Server Dropping Player Connections (1.41.0.8911)

Server Version#: 1.41.0.8911
Player Version#: 10.19.4.1255
Plex Media Server.log (155.4 KB)

Since the latest beta my plex application on the nvidia shield is losing connection to it’s server during playback. I have noticed it also disappearing directly in the web app. I. thought it may have been an ipv6 issue but. I have now disabled that both on the shield network setup and in the plex server and still face the same issue. Rebooting all my network devices didn’t help.

Thanks
Chris

Seems like I can’t revert to an older version on my nvidia shield try a couple of ways!

Maybe just changing the player will help?
If no one else has an idea, the only solution is to uninstall the server and reinstall it with the older version.

Don’t forget backup,

I think the player is fine as I was able to use it to play from a secondary plex server I use as a backup!

After Problem on Synology i blocked my automatic updates, because I already suspected that there would be problems.

I hope some other people will come here to talk about the Plex Server from Aug, 20. 2024 or newer.
I am on Plex Media Server 1.40.4.8679

I seem to be having the same issue too… According to my logs (and tautulli) my PMS on Nvidia Shield goes down every few minutes (20-30 mins usually) and then comes back up again. If I am in the middle of playback on the same device, the screen will eventually just go black. A couple of friends who have access have also said they are unable to reach the server too, so it’s definitely not the player.

Can anyone from Plex comment on this issue I have shutdown my Plex Server as it’s not usable on the shield at the moment?

Use a older Plex Server Version.
Goto Setup/ Apps/ Systemapps/ Plex Media Server and Deinstall. Then reinstall with apk from APKmirror.

Can you provide the full server logs zip file? You just provided one log which only covers a few minutes from startup.

I need a log (from anyone) from a time when you actually experienced the issue.

I’m assuming that would loss all my media metadata and history? Luckily I have a secondary server I can use in the meantime!

Sure let me restart the server and I’ll watch something until it fails

Worked ok playing for 30 minutes but later the server crashed again with the following log
Plex Media Server.1.log (74.8 KB)

Automatically restarted with the following log
Plex Media Server.log (59.8 KB)

Appreciate all the help!

Tried installing the new beta I’m assuming 1.41.0.8930 and maybe because I already had the server component shutdown I now don’t see an option in setting to start. it. Also read about the python changes in the 1.41 release and wondering if that maybe the root cause of the issues we are seeing?

Thanks
Chris

Neither of these logs contain any playback info. Could you rather just provide the full server logs zip file?

Python had nothing to do with playback.

Sorry my bad I was trying to show there is now no longer an option to even start the server with the latest beta. Please find attached the complete logs which I have downloaded via smb

Hey there,
I’m also noticing frequent crashes since the latest beta on my Shield.
Despite having a lot of crashes when playing something with the player on the Shield, these crashes occur without me doing something. (e.g. friends reported that the server is down, when I wasn’t at home)
Also during rewind/fast forward I’m getting some errors that the server is not powerful enough to play the file. (all files are h.265 with AAC audio, ASS subtitles being burnt into the video)
Unfortunately I can’t upload my logs due to “Sorry, an error has occurred.” errors.
