same issue happening to me. crashes frequently. can’t watch a video for more than 5 minutes. Using plexamp, music continues to play but UI acts like it can’t connect.
On PMS 1.41.2.9200
Quick update: Server is stable for like 20 hours now.
ViewStateSync now actually threw an exception like in the mentioned other thread above.

That Exception was ~3min after last crash and ~1min after process start.
No new requests since then have been logged.
Yesterday it started again when I finished an episode of a weekly anime.
I’ve also moved monitoring from Tautulli to Uptime Kuma to get better stats.
It checks every 20 seconds if the server is up or down.
Since the problem started the uptime dropped to 76% already (but half of the period was without the issue), I’m shocked that this issue is not getting worked on by the devs.
If a friend is join my nvidia shield server and try to download, a little moment later, the server is crashing. sometimes server come back after some seconds, sometimes it not come back.
Problem must be PMS 1.41.2.9200. Before I don’t have any problems.

Just to confirm what everyone knows that PMS versions newer than v1.40.4.8679 are all buggy. I have tried them all and moved back to this version again.
I also learnt the hard way that installing an older version of PMS on Nvidia Shield won’t work with NAS/external storage (PMS doesn’t have read access regardless of whatever I tried), unless it is installed via Google Play Store. The only solution is to downgrade PMS via adb.
You can roll the PMS back yourself - downgrade via ADB. I just wrote up instructions on another thread: Server disconnects - Screen goes black during playback - #3 by badelie

Version 1.41.2.9200 does not work in lan or from outside. the connection is constantly interrupted. This is not usable, a quick fix would be appropriate here. I’m not going to fiddle with it any more. Please fix this thing quickly.
Also seeing this, plex server appears to be restarting a lot in my case or just out right dropping connections for a minute or so. If I start a 20 minute TV episode i’ll be lucky for it to manage to play 2 episodes back to back before crashing or dropping connection.
Latest update on nvidia shield broke plex from working for me.
Same here. If I keep shield on settings where it shows server is ‘running’ then it seems as though my server doesn’t crash (10 hours so far).
Since Nov 18-19th or so, the server has been closing until I open the Plex app again on my shield. If a client plays something while the server is up, it doesn’t seem to close until all playbacks stop.

Firstly thanks to everyone who has added to this discussion. Unsurprisingly (as it turns out) I’m experiencing this issue on my own Shield. It had been fine for ages then bam suddenly stops playing at random time intervals. The server libraries also seem to randomly appear and disapper.
I thought maybe my storage was failing but having read this thread clearly not! What is amazing to me is that this is affecting so many Plex users on Shield, yet Plex seem to be very very slow and relaxed about updating us and issuing a fix or preferably just withdrawing rubbish software and reverting us to the last working version. Looks like instead we all have to waste our time reverting and restoring.
PMS on shield upgraded to newest version that was released about a week or so again and now my server is randomly crapping out with no rhyme or reason. How do I get off this beta releases in my shield I don’t want them and now my damn PMS is not working and seems no one from Plex is responding. I’ll be contacting you for a refund on my Plex pass soon if this isn’t fixed

I was getting this from the Beta version in Server update Channel until I went back to the Public version. After a couple of updates I shutdown it down within the Plex Settings to copy other the configuration to a new machine and it didn’t start again. It brought my plans forward but after many years of usage I’ve retired the Shield. I’d must rather now get easier access to the all my server configuration without the limitation I had on the Shield!

You will need to uninstall the current version and install again. If you moved your library to external storage you can rename the library via SMB and then do a fresh install including moving the library to external storage and then switch back to your existing library. You don’t have access to do this on internal storage.
Same issue , keeps disconnecting after 20 min of inactivity.
Also plex server icon dosent exsist anymore it disappeared like a year ago for me.
After a weekend I can say, that the version from July works like a charm.
So I’d recommend downgrading the server (see @badelie’s guide Server disconnects - Screen goes black during playback - #3 by badelie) for now.
I’ve also noticed that Plex hasn’t synced my watch state since ~mid October.
After downgrading it synced >80 entries for my user only (having multiple users = a lot of watched entries).
Uptime reached 100% again except for yesterday when it crashed once due to freezing when I started an episode, which happens from time to time.
Unfortunately, Plex is no longer what it used to be. Sad!
