Plex server keeps crashing in Windows when accessed remotely

Server Version#: 4.8.4
Player Version#: 3.104.2

So for a few weeks now my Plex server keeps crashing, no remote users can play any files. The icon shows up bottom right in running apps, but as soon as you hover the mouse over it, it disappears. And it seems to happen when someone remotely accesses my files. It remained stable and running for two days when nobody was accessing it.

I have tried re installing the server software with a fresh download, not joy.

Your server version is actually v1.18.2.2058-e67a4e892.

ERROR - [FFMPEG] - Error setting child device handle: -16

This is happening to others and being investigated.
Do you have FFMPEG installed separately?

Thanks for the reply, Ive no idea what FFMPEG is … I’m not techie.

Can you link me to the ongoing thread about this?

In the mean time you can turn off the hw transcoding setting until it’s been resolved.

OK, so as I said I’m not techie, where do I go to turn off hw transcoding?

Thanks for the reply :slight_smile:

Settings -> transcoder.

Note: depending on your CPU, content and number of remote users disabling hw acceleration might over tax your CPU.

Ok, done that, thanks, hope it makes a difference.
