Server Version#: 1.24.5.5173-6000 (DSM6 latest)
Player Version#: Version 1.35.1.2632-c6783c78 (macOS latest), 7.24.1 (iPad latest)
I typically only use Plex on my Apple TV, but when I travel I sync some media to my laptop and tablet…did that as recently as a couple months ago. now on my laptop and tablet the Plex server is no longer showing up, and it doesn’t come up when I click on “more” in the left panel either…still have the media I synced last time, but can’t watch or sync any other media. Apple TV Plex app works just fine - have been using it daily all this time. I’ve done a ton of Googling and can’t figure out the problem…weird thing is my Plex server is on a Synology NAS and when I log into the NAS and open the Plex Media Server, it loads the client connected to the NAS IP in my browser and I can’t access any of the media there either. Any ideas?
at first I thought maybe it was an issue with the network I was on…like some router setting messing with it…but I’ve since tried on multiple different networks with different routers and same exact thing happens. Apple TV always works flawlessly though.
yes, the plex account I use is under a different email address.
how could it be that the server isn’t registered to my account, when on my Apple TV, which works fine, I’m logged in as the same user/account that I’m logged in with on my laptop and tablet? also when I open the plex media server on my Synology NAS, I’m logged in with the same account there as well.
I deleted the Plex app from my iPad and re-installed it, and now my NAS is showing up under “more”, but it says it’s offline…which isn’t true since I’m watching Plex on my Apple TV right now…
removed Plex from my Mac and re-downloaded to see if I’d see the same there, but no, my NAS still isn’t showing up on the Mac…
so any ideas? I suspect if you looked at my account, you’d also see one server listed, with valid certificate, last seen by plex.tv not too long ago…since I just used it and it’s logged in with my plex pass account…so in that case, what would someone like @SHsnake do to resolve this issue?
should I try to uninstall the server app from my sinology, remove the server as an authorized device, then set up the server all over again? something else?
If you’re using a separate email address for the actual server account than you are here in the foruns – I can’t see that… Each email address is kept distinct.
That said - THIS (anonuser12345) account has no servers but I think you know that
Yes, I understand But lets assume that my server is in the same situation as @SHsnake (because I believe it is)…What would @SHsnake do to resolve this issue?
Like I said, I believe my server certificate is valid, and it is logged in with the same plex pass account that all my clients are logged in with…but it’s only showing up on some devices, not others…What would be the solution to that problem?
Hi guys, I was able to resolve the Server not showing up by changing the Player setting to allow insecure connections. With that the server is showing up on my Player. However On the server I still did not solve the problem that with the latest version 1.24.5.5173-6000 the media lookup doesn’t work anymore with any media (Movie / TV Show alike). I changed the agent without any success. Also in the settings the remote access shows as not accessible and no IP addresses are visible in the settings screen. That is even my server actually IS accessible remotely.
Something is definitely screwed up in the latest Server Version. I downgraded to previous version and it works just fine. Will wait for a new release before upgrading.
Secure vs insecure for the player – Is the player one of the older TVs which were lost as of the Sept 30th certificate expiration ?
Media not showing up -
Permissions of the shared folder (not very likely unless an entire shared folder disappears)
Specific shows not appearing – Permissions for the file or how they are named.
Rather than downgrading , may I see the server logs ?
If there’s a problem, hoping it gets fixed without first identifying it will almost always lead to disappointment unless it’s a widespread problem (which I’ve not seen reports of)
Hi ChuckPa, I would share my logs but I already downgraded and wait for the next release available and try again. If it’s still not working I will update here.
Sorry didn’t see the first post. My TV is quite new a 2020 Vizio but I am running the Plex client on my Amazon Fire TV 4K Stick.
Again on the Server side the Media is showing up just the server is not able to find a match to get the meta data. No Agent works Plex, Plex Legacy, TMDB, nothing. That the same regardless which Library I am using.
Downgrading won’t solve a problem with the association between the server and Plex.tv – which is the problem here Unless you’re telling me that downgrading PMS version restores functionality ??
What I see the most –
Most common – Server got signed out (credentials dropped from changed in Preferences.xml)
Next – Networking.
Going deeper - damaged database. (what it’s looking like if no agents work)
I just upgraded to the latest PMS Version 1.25.0.5220 and again all remote access functionality was lost. No setting was changed. I am running DSM7.0.1-42218 on my Synology DS720+.
Everything is completely messed up now. The Server shows as not claimed and every time I try to claim it I get an error message.
I also get a message that there is a new PMS Server Version available however I have installed the latest version.
I tried everything to get it working, Logout, Stop PMS, Restart, Login, Claim Server. Nothing worked. Once I downgraded to 1.21.0.3744 the PMS is working just fine. It also available remotely without any problem. I didn’t change any network setting on the PMS or Router and it’s back working. I can access it from all my clients again.
I have a second Synology NAS where I will try to setup another Server from scratch in order to test if it works with the latest version.
