Plex Server not working on QNap TS451a after updated to PlexMediaServer-1.18.2.2029-36236cc4c-x86_64

Server Version#: 1.18.1.1973-0f4abfbcc
Player Version#:

HI guys, again I’ve updated and ended up with Plex dead. Any ideas? Updated to PlexMediaServer-1.18.2.2029-36236cc4c-x86_64
Thanks

Roll back to the previous version (the other QPKG you have).
Install on top of the existing.
Restart PMS

Let me know if any positive changes.

Otherwise please describe further what you mean by “dead”. (there are many forms).

Is there a link or something/somewhere where we will be able to download the qpkg release prior to the PMS version 1.18.1.2019?

I just tried installing PMS version 1.18.2.2019 as well and Plex still says that my NAS is not available despite the fact that I can confirm that there is network connectivity to it.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

You can sort of hack the download URL if you know the file name. So here are the last few I know of.

PlexMediaServer-1.18.1.1973-0f4abfbcc-x86.exe
PlexMediaServer-1.18.0.1913-e5cc93306-x86.exe
PlexMediaServer-1.17.0.1841-d42cfa161-x86.exe

Figure out the current URL for your platform, then replace the matching information from the previous version wherever it needs to go in the URL.

Thank you.

That seems to have worked.

I removed the version of PMS that wasn’t working completely. And then installed/rolled back to a version of the PMS (I’m now using 1.18.1.1973) that’s working and then I rebooted the NAS to have it go into effect and it’s back up and running now.

Not really sure what happened starting 1.18.1.2019, but it definitely did SOMETHING to it that make it stop working, including 1.18.2.2029.

It’s recommended to keep a few QPKG files around for just such cases.

They are only 119 MB each.

For future reference, you can downgrade on QNAP by installing the older version on top of the existing version. It does not restrict you as other platforms do. Doing this preserves your metadata.

I resolved it on mine by using a method from a similar problem previously discussed;

I did this;
Try this:

  1. Powered down PMS
  2. Used WinSCP to navigate to the folder /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer/Library/Plex Media Server/Plug-in Support/Databases, renamed the com.plexapp.plugins.library.db as com.plexapp.plugins.library.db.backup (the other two files in the instructions from the above post were not in there so I didn’t do anything for those)
  3. Made backup of the latest db Backup (ie mine was com.plexapp.plugins.library.db-2019-11-13 - I just downloaded it to my laptop with WinSCP) and renamed that one com.plexapp.plugins.library.db
  4. Started PMS in the QNap App manager and left it for a while. Initially it had seemed to not work, but when I checked it half an hour later it was now working.

Hope that helps someone as the original has helped me…twice!

Hmmm, I’m still having problems with this update. For some reason some user accounts work fine but others lost all access to shares, some keep losing access to shares (they show as offline) and some shares show as empty for some users but not others. All a bit of a mess really! Think I’ll try to roll back to a previous version.

I’ve gone back to PlexMediaServer-1.18.1.1973 as I know this has been working fine for me for a while. I think I tried 1.18.1.2019 a while ago and had the same problem (PMS not starting) so it’s the second time I’ve reverted back to 1.18.1.1973
