Plex Smart TV compatibility list inaccurate for Samsung TVs

I’ll check it out. Can you confirm what version you have?

I could have swore he released another but it appears the 2.012 is what Samsung offers. I have the link to the 2.013 version if you like:

Good luck

The latest version (not available in the Samsung store) can be found here

Thanks Orca!! I knew there was a 2.014 somewhere. So at least I’m not going senile yet. Hope you’re doing well. And if I haven’t said it before. Thanks for your work on a wonderful app.

I’ve been trying to fix my connection to plex.tv server using the help from Orca and others in multiple threads with no success. I tried to install v2.014 of Orca’s app using SammyWidgets, but I couldn’t even find a way for the 2015 TV to point it to the local server. I also tried the “PlexProxy” Docker from Tahirzia on my Synology NAS, but that wouldn’t work for me either. The only thing that I didn’t try was the USB solution to load the v2.014 app, but I did find a far simpler workaround.

You can still get the v2.012 app (which is available for download from Samsung smart hub) to work, if your Plex Media Server is in your local network. This workaround basically allows you to bypass the “Test failed, server is unreachable but it returned: ‘Access is denied’. Due to the security settings, this server is only accessable, when you are logged in on your Plex account” error when trying to manually set up the server IP.

All you need to do is go to Plex Media Server Settings → Network → List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth. There you can add your smart TV local netowrk IP (which you can easily find from either your TV network settings page or your router). Finally, you open the Plex app on your TV, press the red (home) button on the remote and select to manually add the Plex Media Server IP.
