Hello, I’m new to the whole plex -server, nas thing. I have been putting my movies on my nas server to watch with plex. was working good. had a notification there was an update . had to be installed manually. I installed it and I thought was all good. tried to watch something using chromecast with google tv and it said no connection to server (or something like that). so I logged into the sever and plex was not running. I clicked run and worked for a few minutes then happened again. I uninstalled plex then reinstalled. fixed… except now my library will not update as I load DVDs into it. so once again I uninstalled plex the re-installed clicked scan library and it goes for only a second and nothing. so i once again updated plex. now scan works but it stopes running again. Manually update to the latest version of Plex. The version you are running is over a year old.

- Do not place your media in the
/Plexshared folder. It will keep your Plex installation from working correctly. The messages saying “don’t put media here” are there for a reason. See the Installation & Setup document for other locations to avoid.
Using local file path instead of URL: /volume1/Plex/Plex TV Shows/Friends/The Best Of Friends Volume 03/THE BEST OF FRIENDS VOL 3_t01.mkv
- Name your media correctly. Naming media incorrectly may prevent Plex from correctly recognizing it and matching it with online databases. Plex is especially picky with TV shows.

I am having the same issue however PMS runs on a TerraMaster F5-422 and I am uncertain of where the logs are saved to. I downloaded the logs through the Plex web portal but they start from the most recent time PMS was loaded.
ok did what you said no issues thus far thank you. now is I can figure out how to have my home movies on plex as well as videos station without duplicating the data?
Not sure. I do not use Video Station.
I know the guides say not to use the Video Station folder. You could try using it for your personal videos and see what happens. If it does not work, or works then fails, you could then move the files elsewhere.
