Plex tidal integration

Hello,

I have a Tidal Family HiFi account (purchased seperately of course), and have linked it separately to each full Plex account for users in my home. Artist info in my library shows with additional Tidal albums in web and adroid players, but the additional content is not showing up for other home users.

Is this supposed to work? There’s no sense in having this linked for other users without it working? They may as well use the Tidal app. My intention with having the Tidal accounts linked is to “level up” my library as advertised…

Or is this something that’s still in the pipeline?

Thanks

Tidal content will only show up for users to which you linked a Tidal account. Managed users or other users in your home without a Tidal account won’t get Tidal content.
This is a licensing restriction.
A Tidal subscription is only valid for one person (or in the case of a Tidal family account for 5 persons). Plex is not entitled to make Tidal content available to more persons than that.

He did say he linked up a family Tidal account to the other family members in his home.

Eric, did you use the same login name when linking or did you use a separate tidal account part of the family plan to each user?

Was Last.fm scrobbling adding to Tidal?

Playing an Artist Radio via the AppleTV app and noticing that the Tidal songs are being scrobbled in addition to my library files. :+1:

Haven’t tested other Players.

Tested on iOS as well, played an artist I don’t have locally at all in my library and confirmed tracks were scrobbled to Last.fm.

huge news for the Tidal integration. :+1: :+1:

Clicked on 30 day free trial and followed process described. My PayPal got dinged CAD$119.99 paid to Plex. Received no emails from any party on this transaction. Spent a long time trying to get anything to work. Finally figured out (by going to my Plex account) how to link the Tidal to my account. Still could not see what I can play from Tidal. Went to Tidal and was able to log on, but was immediately forced to specify how I was going to pay, or I could do nothing. I would like to cancel my Free Trial and get my money back from Plex. How do I do this? Thanks.

Yup! (And works independent of player)

Sorry for the long delay. I have a family Tidal account, each user has their own Plex account, and each of those has a unique Tidal user name linked.

Has the New Releases for You carousel updated for anyone since integrating Tidal?
I still have the same 3 releases listed for me since adding Tidal.

I can’t tell if this is just because it’s a slow release period - there have not been any new albums from artists in my library over the holidays, but there HAVE been a number of singles that I would have expected to see there.

Can anyone at Plex explain how this should be working?
I believe that Plex is filter the New Releases provided by Tidal by Artists contained in your library, and then filters out any of those albums that may already be in your library -

Does it include singles? If it does not currently include singles, is this something that can be added?
Proper New Release notifications are one of the biggest blemishes on all current streaming services and if Plex can get this right, the Tidal add-on is a no-brainer for me.

actually I take this back, there is definitely a new album from a band I follow out today and it’s not showing up in the New Releases section for me.

to expand further, if I open up the Tidal app - I see some of the new singles I would want to see in Plex listed in the “Suggested New Tracks” section and I see the new album I talking about in the “Suggested New Albums” section.

So, even with pretty limited Tidal playback, Tidal itself seems to be getting closer to what I’d expect for New Releases.

Not sure why Plex isn’t able to pull this in.

I can play some tracks from Tidal through Chromecast Audios but others like the A State of Trance podcasts and Above and Beyond Group Therapy podcasts can’t be played because “they can only be played through your phone”. It kind of makes Tidal pointless for me, especially when Spotify has these streams and can cast fine.

There will always be delays in the availability of new albums published on Tidal appearing in Plex. The length of delay will depend on Plex’s infrastructure and syncing schedule.
This is the nature of the beast and common to all other platforms that integrate in this manner with streaming providers.

This query will come up time and time again as new highly anticipated albums are released; a sticky info post detailing this might help reduce them…

If the album you’re trying to access has been on a Tidal for a few days and still not showing in Plex, try adding it to your favourites within the Tidal app and see if it shows up then.

Any further feedback on this feature? Does it only work as advertised for the primary account? Thanks.

What would be the point of this?
The idea is that the Tidal integration allows Plex to notify me of new releases from artists in my library.
I still only have the same 3 albums in my New Releases For You carousel since day 1 of Tidal integration.
Something doesn’t seem to be working correctly.

I’d be curious to hear of others experience with the personalized New Releases carousel.
Is it updating as expected on Fridays with new albums?

Hey Elan, does Plex Tidal integration having issue or intermittently down ?
Every time I play a Tidal playlist, after skipping more than few songs, the playback would seem to stop or pause or hangs. This happen after long time (hours) of listening of songs on tidal…

However when I use official Tidal app everything is OK.

My client is latest Android TV/mobile Plex

Hmm, not aware of any issues  Can you reproduce w/o hours of playback, just with skipping?

I am not able to integrate my Tidal account with Plex, I have connected my Tidal account and can use the Tidal website to stream music, but in the Tidal tab in Plex web (Ubuntu server version 1.14.1.5488) I just get the generic “TIDAL + Plex = music to your ears!”

I have tried authorizing the connection again, still nothing.
I did get Plex emails telling me:

Yay! You’ve linked TIDAL and Plex!
Congrats on linking your TIDAL subscription to Plex! We are thrilled you have a Plex Pass and so grateful that you support Plex.

Any ideas how to get this integration to work?

Does the same happen if you load the web app from here?
