As the title says, the new Plex TV agent is missing the series Disneyland (1953). There are other similar series, but they don’t have the episodes that this one has.
How are the files named?
I created a test series named “Disneyland” and it matched immediately.
(That show sure had a bunch of different names over the years!)
I have it named as Disneyland (1953) on the server. Even when going to Fix Match, the series doesn’t appear. Is it giving you the exact show that I have linked when you match it? There are quite a few, but they aren’t that one specifically
Try naming it Disneyland (1954) or Disneyland (1954) {tvdb-71625}.
You can use TVDB IDs in Fix Match, by entering tvdb-71625 and removing the year, too.
The title appears as The Magical World of Disney but it’s associated with tvdb-71625. (The show was renamed multiple times.)
Edit: Actually … now I’m wondering if this show is broken, as you say. Perhaps multiple versions are scrambled together in the Plex metadata universe?
I get better results when I use Episode ordering: The Movie Database (Aired), but I don’t think it’s complete. With it set to TheTVDB (Aired) even S01E01 has missing data.

Yeah, I just spent the last 10min trying to get metadata to load in, only to realize that The Magical World of Disney doesn’t exist on TVDB. Wish I had come back to read your response sooner. I dunno why the series I was using before isn’t in Plex’s TV Agent, hope one of the Plex staff sees this, as none of the other series have all of the eps that this one has.

But I’m 100% with you. Missing data. Needs Plex attention.
Since TVDB and TMDB have been sewn together in an ethics challenged medical experiment then hit with a lightning bolt to wake it up… it’s no wonder this show is belly up. (IT’S A LI(v)E!)
There isn’t anything at TMDB that even closely resembles ‘Disneyland’ in 1953.
But, if it were me - I’d lose the (1953)…
The name at TVDB doesn’t have a (YEAR) field - and that’s an instant fail.
I don’t know if that would fix the problem, as all of my show folders have the year in the folder title.

I use FileBot.
FileBot queries TVDB (at my choosing) and collects the exact name they’re using for the a show. The Exact Name. If the name has a (YEAR) field, Filebot uses it, If not, it doesn’t.
Doing that I’m getting nearly 100% success with matching, but Disneyland explodes into a fireball - and Fix Match shows no ‘Disneyland’ at all:
That’s the match I get no matter the “1953” or not - and I’m not renaming my files with an ID Hack to see if that works. Fix Match is no help either way.
Plex folks have stated that year is allowed for all shows when using the new agent.
I mean, it has to be the right year, which I don’t think is 1953.
… and the data has to be useful, and I think there’s a server-side data problem with this show.
The show has sometimes been called “The Magical World of Disney”. And about 5 other names.
And when you look in the database/XML for the show, it’s linking against TVDB-71625. So ID-hack naming or Fix-Matching won’t make anything better.
It needs a Plex Metadata Exorcist.
Plex says a lot of things.
The real world, however reveals something else:

If I put a (YEAR) field in where it’s not indicated at TVDB - I’m fixing match often. If I use the Exact Name - I’m fixing match rarely. Like almost never.
I have to go with what I’ve found to be true - not what Plex tells me is true.
But this is true - Disneyland is all messed up…lol
I think there are also consistency issues with The Three Stooges. It has weird data at IMDB and seems to be missing completely at TMDB. I wonder if that contributes to how Plex’s metadata search performs.
But also, I agree. That matches without the year. And it’s totally broken WITH the year. I can’t disagree with you.
Plus, the TVDB data seems like the only good source for that show, which I know you’d agree with.

Unfortunately - TVDB has exactly what I want in a TV Show Database - the correct info.
When I need to have a TVDB page open to correct mishaps with data - when I’ve already used Filebot to Match the show AT TVDB - there’s a flaw in the Deathstar that may be no bigger than a fat nutria, but I used to target those with my Army/Navy Surplus Bazooka back home…
The Three Stooges “episodes” seem to be all listed as short movies elsewhere. Which kinda does make sense.
Maybe this is part of the issue with Disneyland too. The items are listed elsewhere as movies.
So in those cases, you need to match the TVDB name, because it doesn’t exist anywhere else.

Hmm. for that Disney show looks like the external ID linking to TVDB from TheMovieDB might be wrong if i am reading that correctly. I’ll let our metadata folks know
I see you updated the external id at the show level. That should fix it the problem with this show once it’s replicated to the plex cache servers.
I’ll take a look at the episode ids in the coming days when I’ve got some time.
