Plex TV Scanner broken since 1.28.xxx?

I have removed all libraries and added a single folder w/ just one file:

[Z:\torrents]
> dir /b /s TV-ShowsX
Z:\torrents\TV-ShowsX\Jett (2019) {tvdb-359791}
Z:\torrents\TV-ShowsX\Jett (2019) {tvdb-359791}\Season 01
Z:\torrents\TV-ShowsX\Jett (2019) {tvdb-359791}\Season 01\Jett S01E01.mkv

I ve got file from: Jett.S01.COMPLETE.720p.AMZN.WEBRip.x264-GalaxyTV[TGx]

Plex Media Server Logs_2022-09-25_07-00-41.zip (112.2 KB)

@fcukplex FYI you still have verbose logging on, and where those all of the log files generated?

Yeah I know, I 've enabled verbose just for this run as last time I’ve checked there was next to no useful info w/ just debug.

Yes, those are all files. I’ve stopped plex, deleted all logs, started plex, added lib dir, scan and exported logs.

Please do as said for future!

You have a network issue, since PMS fails to get access to the Internet, and fails to find an interface with a default gateway.

So please check your network setup, as well as DNS, and then restart PMS after that, make sure logging are in debug only mode, and do the Plex Dance

Also failed to see traces of the fact that you did a Plex Dance in the logs?

Hmm no other app has problems accessing internet. I am having quite a lot ifaces due to docker, vmware, vpn, etc though,
Also PMS is able to download metadata and clients can connect to it w/o any issues

It was a newly created folder + lib which never existed before.

Here are new logs, with just debug and Plex Dance
Plex Media Server Logs_2022-09-26_06-43-30.zip (27.6 KB)

Please do not clean up older logs.
We need all of then

Your log now shows it’s scanning

Z:\torrents\TV-ShowsX\Jett (2019) {tvdb-359791}\Season 01

Log still has no indication of a real Plex Dance, with an empty trash and clean bundles ?

Also please share a screen capture in file explore of the directory above

But I definitely did it!

Re-did Plex Dance:
Plex Media Server Logs_2022-09-26_16-45-52.zip (46.4 KB)

This time I did see traces of a Plex Dance

But need to ask you again…

Is this a zip of the complete set of logs ?
( I miss a lot of log files )

yes, I do export logs from webui and upload zip here. :person_shrugging:

Could you please go to File Explore, and then navigate to:

C:\Users\<YOUR_USER_NAME>\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Logs

In above, replace the <YOUR_USER_NAME> with your Windows user name

Then please share a screen capture

I’ve placed a video in lib dir that I know plex detects and did library scan.
Here’s the logs to it and all the ones you are missing

My guess is that some dependency dll or similar doesn’t work for whatever reason which will cause the sub-processes to fail.

Really confused here…

All of a sudden, the logs that I missed are now present, yet they do not show in explore?

Ohh…And Z:\torrents\TV-ShowsX\kevin.can.■■■■.himself.s02e01 is not following the naming std, since it’s missing both a show and a season folder

And if there was dependency errors, it should show in the logs, which it doesn’t

I do see you are running the latest public release, so try this…

  • Exit PMS
  • Rename the log directory to Logs.old
  • Upgrade your PMS to the latest Plex Pass version
  • Power it up, and after 5 min, do the Plex Dance once more on the Jett TV show

Then report back, and if still an issue, also provide a fresh set of logs

Edit: Also verify, that Jett episode is not currupted, but actually can play in like VLC

File plays fine w/ any player.

Running out of ideas fast here :frowning:

Anything in Windows Event logs?

That’s what brought me here

nope, nothing there either

and the icing on the cake is that the old “Plex Series Scanner” picks up and scans everything…

I usually have a pretty fixed system as in I do not install/uninstall software, all I usually do is update windows and the software I have already installed. Which I know you disagree but makes me believe this is some weird dependency issue.

Before I start to cry here…

When you look at the missing episodes with adv. security, is there anything else that pops out?

everything normal, e.g. jett mkv has same permissions as that kevin mkv that worked.

Since on Windows, could you perhaps for a small test disable any AntiVira solution you might have up running, and then do the Plex Dance again on Jett

I hate to tell you but it didn’t help…
