Plex Update 1.10.1.4602 seems to break remote connectivity

Has anyone else had this issue? I’m running Plex on CentOS 7. I did the same upgrade process I’ve been doing for two years now but this time my remote connectivity will not resolve. One of the users I share my media server with told me couldn’t connect which is what brought this to my attention. All services are running correctly. All Router settings have been verified to be accurate. I rebooted the server, verified SElinux was still disabled, etc. Still nothing.

I have the same issue, can connect ‘indirectly’ but can’t connect directly no matter what I do and the server reports ‘not available outside your network’ the only and I mean only thing that has changed is that I upgraded to this version this morning :frowning: and now not even my TV or XBox or ANYTHING other than the web interface on my PC can see it… like it’s been cutoff from the world - unless I’m happy with ‘indirect’ access…

I can play anything on my local network (Roku 3, Galaxy S6 App, multiple browsers on multiple PC’s) but the moment I or anyone else attempts to access it outside of the LAN it doesn’t work.

“Not available outside your network
Your server is signed in to Plex, but is not reachable from outside your network.”

This only happened immediately after the update was applied and I have updated for 2+ years without incident.

Some users, especially those with ‘less than optimal’ ISP equipment, have reported their UPNP and manual port forwarding get ‘confused’ (the polite term).

Although not definitive, we’ve had success performing two steps.

  1. Clear out the history of UPNP ports in the modem/router (some just fill up and won’t clear out)
  2. Edit Preferences.xml with PMS stopped. Remove the references to LastMappedPort="xxx" and “LastManualMappedPort”.

If there is a regression in PMS, it will be with port usage history and its mapping.
Would you folks mind helping me track this down?

I will check this when I get home from work. Thanks.

Neither worked unfortunately.

Completely uninstalled and reinstalled PMS. Exact same issue.

Seeing this too. Downgrading works.

What is the proper way to downgrade?

yum-y install https://downloads.plex.tv/plex-media-server/1.9.7.4460-a39b25852/plexmediaserver-1.9.7.4460-a39b25852.x86_64.rpm

the above complains that it does not upgrade installed package. Do I need to completely uninstall Plex again as-in:

rpm -e plexmediaserver
rm -rf /var/lib/plexmediaserver/
userdel plex
reboot

and then reinstall it from scratch?

I thought I was going crazy trying to troubleshoot this issue. Plex Media Server 1.10.1.4602 running on an Asustor NAS. Same issue.

Someone I respect installed it and did not report any issues, which made me think I had a fundamental misunderstanding of the situation but it turns out he was just focused on seeing The Last Jedi.

Same issue here. 1.10.0.4523, Synology 416Play, Apple Time Capsule. All working fine until upgrade. Can access all aspects of the PMS via local network apps, web app, remote web app (not green locked) but all other apps such as Fire TV, Roku and iOS from outside of network fail. Setup with auto port and also manual port forwarding, same problem. Via settings in PMS, remote access is green ticked and supposedly fully accessible.

Not helpful, but I’m having the same issue remotely accessing one of the servers my family uses. Bizarely I remotely administer two servers for my family, my parents works fine, my sisters does not. I can ssh in to my systers box, all logs look fine and you can see me remotely connecting via a browser and no errors are showed. Just that the browser will only show my local server, and not my sisters server. Again port forwarding is working fine (must be as does load the plex page, logs in, but then shows my server and not my sisters).

I suggest refreshing the plex.tv info (presence and IP). This happens in Settings - General when the server is signed in. (sign out , wait 10s, sign in)
Yes, it’s a prerequisite to Remote Access working so we know it has the IP address but something doesn’t think it does.
Also, force-refresh the browser page / clear its cache. I’ve seen browsers (including mine) go dumb. Force it to update all known servers in the server-browser drop down list.

I tried downgrading to 1.10.0.4523 and it didn’t fix the issue. Seems like A LOT of people are running into this issue (see this, this, and this)
Why has there not been an announcement about this yet??

(Although to be fair I’m not entirely sure this is the same issue)

Tried this – now it won’t let me re-claim the server.

I was having trouble re-claiming the server as well. It looked like the button wasn’t doing anything but closing the window and reopening showed the server as being associated with the account. Regardless that didn’t actually solve the problem

I rolled my server back to version 1.9.7.4460 and that fixed it. Everyone I know had the same issue I did. They are all CentOS 7 and Fedora though.

here’s the link to that version: https://downloads.plex.tv/plex-media-server/1.9.7.4460-a39b25852/plexmediaserver-1.9.7.4460-a39b25852.x86_64.rpm

Thanks for your help, unfortunately it still doesn’t help. One thing I forgot to mention in my previous post was I’d even tried it on different browsers, and the same thing happens. Although I have noticed that in the list of servers I now have a new ‘News’ server when I connect via plex.tv (not when I directly connect to plex over the internet using :32400/web/index.html). Going to see if I can find the deb file for 1.9.7.4460 somewhere.

Does not work for me, I also downgraded but the problem remains, frustrating as hell :frowning:
