Server Version#: 1.18.2.2015
Player Version#: LG WebOS 4.11.1
It seems like a bug was introduced 3 weeks back (in 1.17 and continued in 1.18) that has yet to be resolved. Rolling back to 1.16 is tricky due to the changes to the new music library for me, and I just wanted to ensure that the dev team is aware of the problem.
It seems like whenever the LG player needs to seek on a playback, either due to resuming from the middle of an item or forwarding/rewinding while playing that media, the video starts to stutter and audio cuts in and out. Based on testing, it only seems to be doing this when the server has to transcode the item. It does not buffer – I tried playing an item on my local network, and it never showed the buffering circle, just stuttering. The same file would work perfectly fine on any other player, and if there is no need to transcode or “seek” (play file from beginning to end as is), then the playback is perfect.
You can find that other people are experiencing the same problem and the relevant logs in the below thread. I posted it in the PMS section because it does seem like mods/staff reply here, and bugs are sent over to the dev team. Not a single mod/dev responded on the below topic despite it being open for 3 weeks, and it is a fairly important bug to at least acknowledge. To be honest, the LG WebOS bugs often remain unsolved for years, e.g. the player not being found as a companion app or working for working with Alexa. This one is fairly critical though, so hopefully the dev team can take a look.
