Sleep well kind sir. Especially becauseâŠYAHTZEE!!! Weâre in business!!!
Still here sadlyâŠ
Could you DM me the backup you made of your prefs file, for future ref?
sure. here you go. and no i didnt think to back it up until you asked for it. Preferences.rar (489 Bytes)
question: if i change the default password on the qnap will it break this? im just really gun shy at this point with it.
Change away your default Qnap PW. Plexâs credentials are tied to your plex.tv account.
As you may be already aware, since you currently donât have a PlexPass subscription, you will not be able to leverage your QNAPâs GPU HW Transcoding capabilities.
If all your Plex clients can DirectPlay the media you are viewing, then it wonât matter.
If your clients DO have to do transcoding, then depending on the format/media you may see pausing/buffering playback.
Thanks @MwC_Trexx! I might consider the subscription in future. One other question: is there a guide on how to properly trunk the QNAP ports? I did it before via the QNAP GUI, which apparently didnt do it properly.
My general answer would be DONâT mess with port trunking. In most cases, the average home user wonât see ANY benefit from it, and generally doesnât have the switching infrastructure to really take advantage of it either.
Port Trunking ONLY gives you benefit if you have multiples users/clients connecting to the server AND that TOTAL concurrent bandwidth usage across those clients is greater than 1Gb (combined usage).
Even with Port Trunking, NO individual user/client connection will have greater than 1GbE bw.
If you have WiFi in the mix, you even have likely less need for Port Trunking.
Ok, thanks.
Again, Iâd like to thank everybody for their collective help. This resolved my issues and were big time Plexâg now!
