So just a quick heads up from my side, as the issue is still up to date:
Had this problem for movie libraries. The Scanner only downladed metadata for a third of my movies. Downloading/Scanning for a single movie lasted for couple of minutes and then as mentioned, the chance only was a third, that metadata was retrieved (fun fact: From this third, half of them only got the cover and no other data). With this method, it took hours for only a hundred movies.
Disabled IPv6 in the router and what should I say, now the scanner rushes through the movies and it only takes seconds to retrieve the metadata correctly.
