PMS not working

Hi
I’ve been running Plex on my Synology DS220+ without any problems for the past few years.
I was using the PMS yesterday without any problem, but today when I open the app I can’t see any of my content.
The Plex sidebar shows a heading for Plex and under that Discover, Live TV, Watchlist and a couple of other items. Below that is a heading for Your Media. When I click on that, I’m presented with the option of “Get Plex Media Server”.
However, the Package Center on Synology shows PMS as installed and running.
I’ve tried

  • stopping and re-running the PMS app
  • turning Synology off and restarting
but it doesn’t make any difference.

I’m still presented with full menus and can access my content on all my other devices e.g phone and TV

Can anyone please help
Thanks

Can you please:

  1. Confirm PMS is stopped
  2. Open FileStation
  3. Navigate to /PlexMediaServer/AppData/Plex Media Server
  4. Right-click LogsCompress to Logs.zip
  5. Download the ZIP
  6. Upload / attach it here so we can take a look.

Hi
Is it just the Plex Media Server.log files that you need from the Logs folder or do you want all the other files as well?
Thanks

Prefer all please because we sometimes see fatal errors in the subsystems.

Thank you.

Do you have your own ceritificate or a proxy of any type?

PMS is refusing because there is another certificate trying to interject itself in the change to Plex.tv

Not sure what you mean.
I’ve not made any changes that would have prompted this.
How do I check if I have my own certificate?
Can the problem be fixed?
Thanks

I just looked at your account on Plex.tv.

Your server hasn’t been seen (talked to Plex.tv) for 6 days.
Does that seem about right?

There’s an easy first thing to try here.

Let’s try to re-claim the server.

Try this procedure please.

When you do this, make certain it verifies that the server is claimed for you at the end of installation. (IMPORTANT)

Let me know if it’s blank

The problem started on 4 June.
I’m still on DSM 6, so do I still follow the same instructions.
Also, I’m not very technical so please bear with me
Thanks

Not to worry, DSM 6 just takes a little more work manually.

  1. Make certain to install the Synology “Text Editor” app from Package Center
    – It won’t show up on the desktop. It’s built into the popup menus.

  2. Stop Plex

  3. In FileStation, navigate to Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server

  4. You will see “Preferences.xml” listed

  5. Right-click it → Open with Text Editor

  6. Preferences.xml will open in a popup window

  7. Using the cursor keys, carefully look for PlexOnlineUsername="YourName"
    – Delete it … but be very careful not to delete anything else

  8. Now look for PlexOnlineToken="somestuff" and delete that too.

  9. SAVE the file (upper left under ‘File’)

  10. Exit

  11. Go back to FileStation.

  12. Click into Cache subfolder

  13. Delete cert-v2.p12

  14. That’s it.

  15. Now start PMS

  16. Open the server using the LAN IP of your Syno
    ( http://LAN.IP.of.Syno:32400/web )

Steps 1-15 all done.
Having re-started PMS I accidentally double clicked on the Plex icon on the Synology desktop and Plex opened and displayed my sidebar, which is good news.
However, I had the yellow warning triangle next to the server name DS220P at the top of the sidebar. When I clicked it I was taken to a screen which shows "DS220P server is unclaimed and not secure and a yellow button “Claim it now”.
What should I do?
Thanks

You claim it. Hit the button.

If it doesn’t claim for you then I have a Task scheduler task which will work for this.

I hit the button and it took me to General in Settings where I hit another button saying Claim Server - but nothing happened.

can you

Stop Plex
Go into the “Plex Media Server” directory,
Right-click ‘Logs’ → “Compress to Logs.zip”
Download the ZIP file
Attach it here for me to see what happened.

I’ve taken the next step at Plex.tv – I’ve reset the server’s certificate so it will get a new one when it tries to connect.

I would like you to try and do this step.

Take your time.

Let me know if you have trouble.

You want the DSM 6 part.

OK
A couple of questions

  • Should I start from the heading “On Synology”?
  • I don’t know how to create a scheduled task
  • Should I cut and paste everything that’s in the greyed out section?

I think I’m going to need a bit of help with this.

It’s getting really late over here in the UK and I want to make sure I get this right. So, I’m going to leave it for now and pick it up in the morning.

Thanks for all your help.

  1. Start here.

We might get lucky and be able to get it claimed with the secure=0 browser method.

If that fails, then carrying on,

A scheduled task is created in Control Panel - Task Scheduler.

You’ll want to create a task → User Script
