I have a Shield TV Pro running Plex Media Server and I cannot keep the EPG updated with accurate information. Right now, if I check guide listings 24 hours out I get many “Unknown Airings” listed for multiple channels:
This has been a problem since I installed and activated PMS on the Shield and I (and others) have been trying to get some answer from Plex Support without success. Once again, I’m attaching my server logs in hopes of getting some response. Also, don’t suggest using an XMLTV file since there is no way to generate one on the Shield directly. (If there is a way to do this directly on the Shield I’d be happy to try it.)
How badly do you need UPNP active on your Router? Plex is receiving invalid responses to it’s UPNP requests. There are also some messages where it thinks it has lost internet connectivity so it can’t finish guide data requests.
The pickle you are in is that 1.14.x was known to have guide refresh issues but going to 1.15.x may bring new ones.
Not sure why it would lose internet connectivity with any frequency. Have been having some issues with intermittent drops from my ISP but I wouldn’t think they would occur every night at the same time.
Update: I just checked the EPG and all is normal through Friday at least. This is several hours after a MANUAL update but before the nightly SCHEDULED update. Something seems to be wrong with the auto update run at 2am as a scheduled task.
Given up on the EPG and Plex Support ever doing anything about the problem. I’m now running ZAP2XML on an Ubuntu system to create an XMLTV file for the Shield. This is definitely NOT how I want to run PMS as it should be a standalone system, but this is the only way I’ve found to keep the EPG updated correctly.
