Thank you very much for reporting this. I can see a crash at 22:31:43 on April 5th
The crash report and logs are being referred to the development team
Hi
Further to my earlier response, i have a development build to of 1.15.4 to make available to you to fix this crash. I will send you a link by Private Message - please update to it and let me know if these crashes go away - if not, fresh logs please
There is now a later fix for this crash
I am sending you Development build 1.15.5.934-21b6f581b-x86.exe
Thanks
sorry - corrected
Just sent PlexMediaServer-1.15.5.934-21b6f581b-x86_64.dmg
for Mac OS
I am experiencing a similar issue after the April 5 update for MacOS. Plex Media Server randomly closes and server becomes unreachable. Have to restart and open PMS manually every time it happens (5-6 times a day). Was working fine before the latest update
I can see similar crashes on your server being reported - but also other crashes as well. So will send you 1.15.5.934 development build and will see what happens after that.
Will need logs if some crashes remain
Thanks for sending me the database.
The crashes do relate to the database and were within the sqlite3 code
The following is what the integrity check returns
G:\Plex\User Logs 3\Crash - arjumentry\arjumentry-Database\Database\Copy>sqlite3 arjumentry_com.plexapp.plugins.library.db "PRAGMA integrity_check"
wrong # of entries in index index_metadata_item_settings_on_changed_at
wrong # of entries in index index_metadata_item_settings_on_last_viewed_at
wrong # of entries in index index_metadata_item_settings_on_view_offset
Please follow the steps outlined on this support article to repair the database. I have gone through the steps on your database and does appear to be repairable
https://support.plex.tv/articles/201100678-repair-a-corrupt-database/
If you continue to get crashes after the repair, please provide fresh logs
Thank you
So I’d been running fine for about 6 weeks (thanks again for assistance above), and suddenly I’ve noticed that PMS is turning off periodically. Maybe once per week or so. No clue why. I can open up DSM and confirm that it’s stopped. Running PMS again is as simple as clicking Run. I am running some scheduled maintenance tasks (recommended by NAS manufacturer) but I can’t perceive any synchrony between consistency checks, etc. and PMS stopping. Haven’t lost power, rebooted, changed anything else, etc.
- Synology 918+, current DSM, plugged into UPS, always mounted (verified)
- PMS current, including recent modification of privs due to removal of admin status on recent version.
- Log file attached
Appreciate some help. Thank you, gurus!

Thanks for the logs.
I can see a crash overnight during scheduled tasks - crash was at 04:26 am on 5th June
Appears to relate to updating metadata and matching premium music library through gracenote and the crash was within the gracenote module
The logs show crashes on June 5, May 30, May 20, May 15
You could try and fix matches yourself picking last.fm agent
So… how?
I assume Settings > Agents and then check both Artists and Albums. Under each, there are 3 tabs: Personal Media, Plex Premium Music, and last.fm. Since you mentioned the crash was in matching metadata for Premium Music Library, I’m focusing there, but pls let me know if there’s anything I should check or do in the others.
Under Settings > Agents > Artists > Plex Premium Music, there are two listed items: Plex Premium Music (top), Local Media Assets. The Info button for PPM tells me " Plex Premium Music is powered by Gracenote with other content from last.fm and Discogs, but there’s nowhere for me to disable Gracenote there. Clicking the settings gear there brings up this box:
Should I just uncheck all boxes? Incidentally, the settings gear for Local Media Assets (artists) brings up a box for “Local music video path” (why video? ). Do I need to fill that in?
Under Settings > Agents > Albums > Plex Premium Music, there are now three listed items: Local Media Assets (Albums), Plex Premium Music, LyricFind. Info buttons and settings gears show the same stuff as for the Settings > Agents > Artists tab.
I’m sure the solution is simple, but it feels like these settings are maybe more complex than they need to be. The price of fine-tuned control, I suppose.
Thanks again for patrolling these forums and being so helpful.
No, I was thinking of individually fixing matching within the library view in Plex Web and selecting Match / Fix Match. And when doing the fix, to select the last.fm agent
The one that was being processed at the time was for Rick Recht & Sheldon Low
It might have been just a timing bug within the Gracenote code when handling updates to metadata
Thank you. I just saw that PMS turned itself off again (crashed) and here’s the log. Here’s the log. I didn’t catch your reply first, so that same music entry may have been the culprit. I’ve just deleted it completely (didn’t need it) so we’ll see if there’s another trigger.

Also, my local asset path is left blank. Don’t know if that matters.
It might be just an obscure timing bug in the gracenote premium music module rather than a specific music album
This time - At 04:46 am on 17th June, the metadata being requested from Gracenote was for (Peter, Paul And Mary)
They do not appear to be very frequent crashes - with crash on 5th June and then 17th
Interesting thanks. So how should I address this? Longer term it would seem a debugging opportunity for PMS, so it no longer crashes if it encounters an exception from Gracenote. Shorter term, what do you suggest? These crashes aren’t that frequent but occur often enough to be irritating for both me and my shares, and unfixable if they occur when we’re away, as they have. Thanks again!
Longer term there are changes to how metadata is added for music and your library will upgrade to the new solution once in place.
There is an announcement to alert users with old versions of Plex Media Server - this does not affect you but the topic is relevant, in that this software that is crashing is being phased out
See the announcement concerning Premium Music Libraries
This being the case why can’t we have a fix for the ReadyNAS Arm7 devices for Plex? I can’t run any version on my RN214 above V1.14.1.5488. Been that way for a long time now. I had to move my Plex server to a PC to be able to keep up to date. This is NOT what I wanted from Plex. I wanted it running on my NAS so I wouldn’t have to use a PC. Seems like we’ve been ignored as NO ONE from Plex has replied to any one of the many threads about this issue of Plex not shutting down or being able to be uninstalled.
I sympathize, but yours is a different problem. Please use a different thread about it instead of hijacking his one. Thanks.
Beat me to it. Yes, saw that. Seems like that will fix this. Thank you again for patrolling and responding to these forum questions.
