One more +1
Still no?!
Yes I've been wondering about this feature as well. Please consider this. Seeing that so many others are also in favor of it.

ok, 3 year old thread, still actual.
My solution so far : protect your server with a password so that the devices in your lan don't connect to it.
Share the non critical sections with a second account.
Log in with this second account on your familly accessible devices.
But a pin code protected section would be nice to have.
Why are we not funding this?
Why are we not funding this?
Because the Plex developers have not decided to offer crowd funding of features like some other software solutions have. They rely on PlexPass instead to have some income from the project as far as I can tell. (Other than the mobile apps)
Some software developers use crowd funding of features that require a lot of work to implement, features where they would need to hire outside help to implement or features which they don't think are important/urgent enough and use crowd funding to see how much people really want it and then have the means to make it happen.
Of course that only works if development time and/or external resources are available. Otherwise the regular upgrades would suffer.
Without crowd funding someone with lots of money for this would need to contact them and offer to "buy" a feature (for everyone).

+1. A simple hidden/pin-protected folder option would be useful for all sorts of stuff.
What is the problem?
MAKE IT HAPPEN.
Why is blocking R rated movies from children so hard?
smdh, 3 years later still smdh
Because your porn collection is not just what has to be thought of. There is an existing authentication system it has to work with across many different applications for many devices. I could make 4 boxes for your to enter something in too but that doesn’t mean it will work. If this becomes some sort of thread where all your going to do is complain that your issue is more important than others and assume that things are easy I’ll simply lock it.
Again its something they are working on and it is not something that is easy.

Well the multiuser works well enough for the most part if you are willing to log out and log in with the management account as needed (which i'm ok with). The problem is the "on deck" play history cannot be disabled on android (so you have to quickly skip past the on deck screen, go into settings, scroll to near the bottom, log out, and log in with a different account before you can show anything to anyone which takes a good minute or so of fumbling about with the touch keyboard), and the free version of Plex on android doesn't work since it only runs on your master (paid) account. I think that instead of allowing us to easily switch accounts on a device (dropdown from a list of previously used accounts, and type in just the password) they want everyone to buy an extra full version of the Plex client to use the multiuser feature.
This issue came from the very beginning of plex.
Come on guys , how many years do you need for this feature ?
You can stream videos setup a certificate but can not put to separate libraries ???
Yeah, A BIG WTF??
Let's get going Plex. I wouldn't think this would be that difficult.
Come on!
Just tried the multiuser option as a solution. I'm sorry but that is a joke. I log into Plex for HT on any of the HTPCs with the "other" account and lose all the nav options and am presented with only shared content, which I then have to select and browse through the media. I should have stopped at the suggestion of having to log in as another user on my own system. Come on, this is a cheap fix for something that should be inherent by now. Can't believe you've left your users without a decent option after all these years.
Disappointing to say the least.
I think there is a simple workaround for this and I will try and explain it as best I can here.
1 - Double Click the PMS icon in tray to open the Plex localhost screen. (This setting is not available on the plex.tv webapp, thats why!)
2 - Navigate to Settings > Plex Media Server > myPlex and click on "Show Advanced Settings"
3 - Make sure the "Require authentication on local networks" is ticked.
4 - Create an account for each user you want to share content with on plex.tv
5 - Share your server with said accounts, make sure to exclude the sections that you would like them not to get access to.
6 - Make sure that you change the logins on the devices they use to connect to PMS.
You should now effectively have hidden you pr0n from others than those that you want to grant access to. I use this method to make sure my daughter only get to see childrens content.

That's a reasonable solution, but doesn't work well with the Plex app for Samsung TVs, which is what the kid will be using the most. Certainly not viable as long as choosing a user and signing in/out is more than a button press..

Exactly.
I would gladly pay for premium membership if this was an added beta feature.
