this was started comming close to almost 3 years!!!

5 pages and still no word from anyone??

after close to 3 years maybe someone could let us know yes/no/maybe.....

oh and for the record +1

IF you;ve read through as many topics as I have or asked questions on here, this is what happens when you have forum support but no email or paid support. It's th 100% reason i have not bought plexpass or comitted fully to the Plex platform. Support is kinda huge. If you pay and then find out theres no change in support? Too late. I consider this just good research, but this thread and others like it, make me wary. I would pay for support/development n a larger scale than even offered and I think many others would too.

Because your porn collection is not just what has to be thought of. There is an existing authentication system it has to work with across many different applications for many devices. I could make 4 boxes for your to enter something in too but that doesn't mean it will work. If this becomes some sort of thread where all your going to do is complain that your issue is more important than others and assume that things are easy I'll simply lock it. Again its something they are working on and it is not something that is easy. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

No. This is about restricting content in an industry standard way that is available as a default feature in modern software and hardware. The ability to restrict access to chosen content by rating and or location using a code/password. It is about ANY content you might need to restrict: R rated, content (horror - blood - violence - language - etc), etc... from anyone you mgiht need to restrict it from. Rating and restriction, literally a staple of film and TV from its onset and I think a well documented request in this thread and others going on 3 years as noted.

you are never going to get a time frame on when it will be complete . period. so the constant general retort of “you plex guys suck for not doing this” is doing nothing for you. it will be done when it’s done

i agree, don’t pay for things that don’t do what you want

As said before... +1 from a new Plex user

The option of privacy or password protection on specific media sections would be awesome and I'd buy my lifetime Flexpass right now.

LOL my first post, new to Plex and so far the best server I have found so far with the Apps. The RAW DLNA just sucks!

I have two small Children who were watching their Disney movie yesterday when they accidentally turned it to Aliens   AHHHHHHHHHHHH  (My kids are 5 and 8) wife immediately scolded me and told me to find a solution so this would not happen again or we are not using Plex...  so I DEFINITELY think this is needed!  so I  vote  +10000 this feature or some way to drag certain movies into a folder only they can search on.  Something like how NetFlix works when a different user logs in and only can access certain media.  So for now the kids stuff goes on a removable hard drive plugged into the SmartTV and Flex has to remain off limits to the Kids.  It really sucks to have to go backwards in technology.  It sucks this is a 3 year old thread, which means it will probably not be happening any time soon, so any suggestions for other media servers like Plex with content locks I am ALL ears.  I would even pay for this feature.

Any one over here with nice and free xxx website..?

urgently required..

+1 for me as well, I'm annoyed waiting and started to look for another solution.

Anybody know any other software worth checking?

We're still here, we're still talking about it.  PlexFolk?  Is this still on the roadmap?  It truly is a reasonable request.  The application and clients are thus far excellent in most applications - but this is one area that begs for effort.

We can all just run XBMC and add shared folders which does make the barrier to 'finding' things more difficult, but it isn't a solution.

Something as simple as a pin request to see the content would suffice, and anything 'pin'd' would not become wallpaper in any of the sections.   It truly does seem a simple software development exercise.

no one said it wasn't a reasonable request, but its not a "simple development exercise" just because you decided it is. it takes time. and and time and time again it has been stated in hundreds of post about many things including this one that Plex folks do not announce road maps ever.  that isn't going to change if you ask again

+1

Has anyone considered posting a bounty for this feature?  The method seems to work well in the XDA ROM community and may get a third party dev interested in creating a plugin to do this.  It seems to me - a newbie to Plex but certainly not a newbie to open source and cooperative development environments - that this may be a better way to accomplish this as there doesn't seem to be any support interest from the moderator here.

Can someone point me to (or create) a realistic and concise list of features you guys are looking for? Think I can get this done quickly.

Think I can get this done quickly.

I would like to know more on this...

I would like to know more on this...

I created (but haven't yet released) a tool that can be changed to fit this need.

Since there is clearly a need here I don't mind boosting dev.

The only thing that needs to be added to the code is removing media by rating per user

The idea is simple, you set a config file of users and their max content rating level and when I see that user I remove anything that is above it.

At least I think I am understanding correctly that this is the need.

Access would be controlled by myPlex account such that you would have a "kids" account and a "adult" account both of which pointing to the exact same PMS and content.

This is done via a simple yet elegant proxy running on the same server as PMS and only requires curl, apache/nginx and a proper config file.

I still struggle putting the full explanation into words but you can read this to get a general idea.

As long as the Plex software development manager(s) purposefully ignore the fact that NEARLY ALL their users have some form of porn collection, we will not see this needed feature. I’m guessing the devleopers end up having to use network permissions or one of the other work-arounds for their own personal use at home.

I think its safe by now that we will never see direct support (even if all PLEX users end up finding this forum post and add a ‘+1’; unless there some personnel changes at PLEX.

It might be fruitless, but I'd love to see some content control in Plex. Apple does it. Fire TV will do it (supposedly). Plex needs to do it.

Same for me; Would like see that age ratings can be applied to the movies, so that some movies can be hidden behind an pin

+1 This would be a very useful and much needed tool.

You know I hear all this about a Pin 4 Porn :-) even a bit of frustration, now I like my porn just as much (maybe more so) the next man, but until or if they come up with something, why not just Put Your Porn in it's own Folder/Library and share that Folder/Library with whomever you want and only those you share it with will see it.

I have to admit, I didn't know how the library sharing feature worked; until now. :)  That solution ultimately does exactly what I want it to do; it's just not a free feature.  The good news is, at least I have a feasible solution that works (thanks to your post).

We can at least use this solution, until PLEX software includes real content/parental control (fully configurable on the user's PLEX server).

that does not cost anything, anyone can share a library
