I have the exact same issue when using my tablet. The latest version available for manual download for Synology diskstation 7.2 is PlexMediaServer-1.41.6 which yields the error “This package requires DSM 7.2-70000 or older”.
Hopefully a version be released soon to sync with the Android app requirements.
Cheers,
Jake
Apologies for the thread hi-jacking -
@tom80H the community version for DSM 7.2.2 is 1.40.4 - manual install version available is 1.41.6
The manual install version for Plex cannot be installed due to the above error (requires an older version of DSM) and the community version 1.40 yields the out of date error, so we have a catch 22 here!
Cheers,
Jake
What version of DSM do you have installed?
It sound like you’re picking the wrong package.
DSM 7.2.2-72806 Update 3
Attempting to install v.1.41.6.9685-d301f511a for ARM v7 yields “This package requires DSM 7.2-70000 or older”.
Can you share the full file name of the Plex installer and the full DSM version from the NAS Control Center?
DSM Version:
DSM 7.2.2-72806 Update 3
(attempted) manual install version:
PlexMediaServer-1.41.6.9685-d301f511a-armv7hf_DSM7.spk

@fe2mike glad you got it fixed!
Doh! I feel a bit stupid now. I checked the manufacturer page but it did not specify the ARM version, so I just guessed.
Confirmed that the ARMv8 PlexMediaServer-1.41.6.9685-d301f511a-aarch64_DSM72.spk install works fine.
Also after force-quitting the Android app, all works perfectly.
Thank you very much!
Cheers,
Jake
The NAS compatibility list is a good source to confirm the architecture of a NAS model. I’ve been searching on Syno’s homepage myself yesterday and couldn’t find any reference to ARMv7 vs. ARMv8 (it’s not even mentioning that the Realtek RTDxxxx chip is an ARM chip).
