PS5 App will not connect to Local Servers

Same here unable to connect to ps5 plex app. Tried multiple settings no luck and all other devices connect fine. I think there must be a bug on connecting to local server. Hopefully plex and Sony will fix this soon

Any update?

Any update?

Same issue here :confused:

Same here, I just installed Plex on PS5 and added the manual server in the first slot.
I cannot see any traffic whatsoever in Plex Server logs.

  • Plex server is up to date and runs on a Win7SP1 machine
  • PS5 is at the latest greatest firmware from Sony.
    My whole LAN is in the 10.0.0.XXX range.

All of the online channels and movies work flawlessly though which means the PS5 App can cannot to something.

Is there any security / permissions on PS5 that would prevent this ?
Maybe the PS5 only support 192.168.0.XXX LAN range ?

FWIW, my LAN is on the 192.168 range (but not 0, and /23).

I mean, it’s remotely possible I guess… But the PS5 will respond to traffic from other hosts on the LAN.

Sony have however gone to lengths to lock the browser down, maybe something they’ve done in that space is interfering with Plex, at a guess.

I have read elsewhere that some people have had success with a LAN Plex Server and PS5. So it must be a bug related to some configuration variables.

I tripled checked the Windows machine’s firewall settings and obviously the Windows Firewall is totally off, that machine serves many things in my house with no issues and Plex works for any other clients: Web, Android, iOS, Windows.

Same problem in my infrastructure.
Plex runs on a Synology NAS.
Windows clients & browsers works fine.
PS4 also runs without problems.
Just ps5 in any configuration will not connect to local server

I Finally got it to work. I did a few things:

  • Rebooted the PS5 did not fix it.
  • Allocated a predefined DHCP IP to the PS5 didn’t fix it.
  • I finally saw on top in the home menu of the PS5 Sign in and I signed in it asked me to link the device with the http://plex.tv/link address and once I did this the server appeared and it even got auto-populated in the manual servers with its friendly name.

So now I removed the IP enterred since they still do not work.

But in the end I am glad it was just the signing in that was necessary which is not that obviously visible in the PS5 app.

Damn, mine’s already linked. Tried unlinking and relinking. Signing out, back in. Still no luck.

I assume the sign in you’re talking about is the one inside the plex app? I can’t see one on the PS screen.

Thanks for a flicker of hope though.

Same issue here with my new PS5, I 'm correctly logged with http://plex.tv/link

In the same way this morning my PS4 was working properly with the same configuration

I am also having the same issue.

Same issues here. My PS4 works, but my PS5 doesn’t. Just removed the app for now until it’s fixed.

Same issue with me. Just got my PS5 today. Can access my local Plex from all other devices on the same network, but just not my PS5.

Hopefully Plex can figure out what Sony changed (PS4 works fine).

Same issue here. PLEX PLEASE FIX THIS. ps4 works great ps5 no dice

I had the same issue.
Added port forward 32400 on my router to the pc with plex server.
Went to Plex server settings, enabled remote access.
I have working plex on my ps5.

Yeah, I’m not exposing my plex server to the internet.

I’ve also tried the following sequence:

  • Uninstalll Plex from PS5;
  • Unregister Plex Server from Account
  • Register Plex Server to Account
  • Enable Remote access and then Disable it again
    [ This made the local IP address show up at least in Management]
  • Install Plex on PS5;
  • Link Plex Account;

Same result. Server is shown in list, but Plex still won’t connect.

Same here. Just booted up and nothing.

Same issue, can’t see my local server. I’m curious to see how the new “Normalize Multi-channel Audio” setting works with my 2.1 soundbar. The Nvidia Shield’s Plex app doesn’t have this setting so all multi-channel sounds like crap, forcing me to use Plex For Kodi instead. Please fix the PS5 local server issue!
