QNAP TS-435D - No Soup for You error

Server Version#:4.51.1
Server: QNAP TS-453D
QNAP Firmware: 4.5.2…1566
QNAP Static IP: 192.168.30.20
Internet Provider: Verizon FiOS
I’ve forwarded port 32400 and verified it works on canyouseeme.org

Not only am I new to QNAP but also to Plex so please excuse my ignorance.

I’ve installed the latest version of Plex from the Plex website. When I click on the Plex Media Server icon on the QNAP, it launches the website: http://192.168.30.20:32400/web/index.html#!/setup/0584f7d3eec1d7856c0d0a17a768d1ca1be99ef8

When the page opens it says, “No Soup for You!” “You do not have access to this server”

I’ve tried using Chrome, and Firefox but the receive the same error message. When I click “Settings” in the Plex webapp there are no servers, so my QANP is not displayed.

I can see the packets flowing to and from my laptop 192.168.20.x to the QNAP 192.168.30.20

I’ve uninstalled Plex from my NAS and rebooted several times, created a different Plex account each time but nothing works. I can’t get past this error. :frowning:

Any suggestions??

What appears to be happening, (Please correct me if wrong).

  1. Your computer is 192.168.20.4
  2. Your QNAP is 192.168.30.20
  3. This is reaching across subnet boundaries.

Correct ?

PMS won’t let you do that in order to claim it.
You need to be on the same subnet
– OR – use a Plex Claim Token
– OR – SSH into the QNAP.

Is this the situation?

Are you comfortable enough with using SSH or Putty to copy/paste a command ?

The best situation for most folks is to have everything on the same subnet. It makes everything work better and makes no difference in internal security.

OMG!! HAHAHAHA I’m so dumb, I totally forgot my laptop is on a separate VLAN !! I didn’t even snap on the difference while I was typing out post. so dumb!!
Logged into Plex using my desktop on VLAN 30 and boom, it worked.

I’m soooo sorry for posting such a stupid question.

My apologies everyone for especially ChuckPA for wasting your time. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!
