RasPlex 0.4.0 RC1 is out !

Any idea what day "today" was covering?

Kind of excited to test the new transcoding on unsupported codec. :P

This is uploading .... just needed to make some last tests with the installers to make sure its gonna be a smooth process ... shouldnt be too long now.

Last tests have raised minor issues on the installers due to the new update system.

This will require some fixes. might need like 24 hours more to let it out.

Sorry for the wait ...

Alright folks, here's 0.4.0-rc1 for ya'll!

To take advantage of the automatic transcoding, you'll have to manually install the transcoding profile:

https://raw.github.com/RasPlex/RasPlex/master/files/Plex%20Home%20Theater-RaspberryPi.xml

Instructions will be posted on the wiki soon.

The windows installer is still pointed at sourceforge for now, but it's the same as on github.

As always, please report bugs according tohttps://github.com/RasPlex/RasPlex/wiki/How-to-report-a-bug

Once we've put this through the strokes of wide user testing, we'll promote it to 0.4.0, with maybe a couple bug fixing rc's in between.

Can’t wait to get home and test this!

Thanks for the update, I'm testing with 0.4.0rc1 now.

I sorted out my issues trying to get my Remote working too :-)

Really good, but can someone post a profile where it only transcode if the movie it's over 9MB/s as the rasp only have 100Mbit card.
And also ofc transcode the DTS audio.

As of now the limit will be around 21Mbits and its not in the profile as Pi wont handle more data anyways.

DTS audio is transcoded only when needed.

I hope I am missing something silly here

I cant get it to the cover flow view and cant see the section where you can choose sets, genres, recently added etc ....

These two seem to have gone

I don't really care about the sets, genres, recently added etc ....

But that view is what has made me use Rasplex, please don't tell me it's gone ????

i assume that if its gone, then that means that its gone upstream :S

Otherwise would mean that our skins are out of sync ... but i dont think so.

Any chance you can check that on PC / MacOS PHT ?

Well i think you're refering to Mediastream skin which has been completely reworked upstream to become skin.plex.

The filters selection is now on the left of screen (same as to change view mode, but on left side), this will popup the filters menu.

MediaStream was way too old and complicated to be maintained, that's why they decided to completely rework the skin.

Installed and very speedy it seems in the gui. trying precaching now. was hard to see the feedback of selecting a server and then hitting ok, the gui didn't change colors to know if you can multiselect or that a server selection was accepted.

Any one clear on where to DL the transcode profile? I assume on the PMS somewhere?

It seems there is only 2 views with this new skin (poster and list)

Is there anyway of installing a different skin (the one from 0.3.1 maybe)

Because in “my” opinion the 2 views in this new skin are not very good.

Cheers

We didnt have time to gather all the information regarding every PMS setup as this tends to vary depending on the platform.

What you can look for is a directory named "Profiles" on your server. You should have plenty xml files in there. just drop our in there.

here are some locations though :

  • LINUX :  /usr/lib/plexmediaserver/Resources/Profiles/
  • OSX :  /Applications/Plex Media Server.app/Contents/Resources/Profiles
  • WindowsC:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Resources\Profiles

You can still try... i dunno if that will work :)
