longchair, will that file get deleted after a PMS upgrade?
We'll have it distributed with next PMS version no worries :)

It seems there is only 2 views with this new skin (poster and list)
Is there anyway of installing a different skin (the one from 0.3.1 maybe)
Because in "my" opinion the 2 views in this new skin are not very good.
Cheers
The new default Plex Skin in 0.4.0 mirrors the look of the default skin in the desktop (OS X) version of PHT.
You can still select the previous default skin in RasPlex 0.4.0rc1 by navigating to Preferences > Appearance > Skin > MediaStream
Once in the MediaStream skin, you can then select the View Type , Media Preview is the view in your image above, but like LongChair suggested, I'm not sure how well the MediaStream skin will cope going forward if its been replaced by the new PHT Plex skin as the preferred default!
We didnt have time to gather all the information regarding every PMS setup as this tends to vary depending on the platform.
What you can look for is a directory named "Profiles" on your server. You should have plenty xml files in there. just drop our in there.
here are some locations though :
- LINUX : /usr/lib/plexmediaserver/Resources/Profiles/
- OSX : /Applications/Plex Media Server.app/Contents/Resources/Profiles
- Windows : C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Resources\Profiles
I know when I had to write a DLNA profile for my Panasonic TV, from memory, the XML went in "~/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server" , that way when you upgraded PMS in /Applications, you didn't lose your settings.
I don't know if this is applicable here too.

There are other skins which work with Rasplex, see the skins section, two popular ones for Rasplex are Simplex.e and Amber.

I've tried several of the latest rasplex builds and this skin is the default skin from all of them and its not the mediastream skin

OK so I found how to put it back to the MediaStream Skin, but it is acting really weird.
I installed the latest PHT on my pc and the Media stream skin works fine on there.
From my pc below ;
From Raspbmc 0.4.0-rc1 below
As you can see its like all the borders and backgrounds etc.. are missing from Raspbmc.
And also it will not stay in media preview view for the list of shows if i change the list of episodes in the next window to the info view
This all works fine in PHT for windows. I just installed it and tried.
Alright folks, here's 0.4.0-rc1 for ya'll!
To take advantage of the automatic transcoding, you'll have to manually install the transcoding profile:
https://raw.github.com/RasPlex/RasPlex/master/files/Plex%20Home%20Theater-RaspberryPi.xml
Instructions will be posted on the wiki soon.
The windows installer is still pointed at sourceforge for now, but it's the same as on github.
As always, please report bugs according tohttps://github.com/RasPlex/RasPlex/wiki/How-to-report-a-bug
Once we've put this through the strokes of wide user testing, we'll promote it to 0.4.0, with maybe a couple bug fixing rc's in between.
Flashed, installed and preferences configured, overclocked, pre-cached, remote files installed - all the same settings that I had for 9.9.20 - transcoding profile installed.
Initial comment is that navigation seems slower than 9.9.20, but I'll give it a few days.
Movies and TV Shows - plays SD and 720p .mp4 and .avi files with AC3 with 5.1 output, AAC 5.1 with 2.0 output, AAC 2.0, MP3 with 2.0 output, with no stuttering, no audio sync problems, haven't found any file yet that won't play - I don't have any .mkv or 1080p files. SRT subtitles work fine.
Photos - everything OK.
However, it will not play any music files, all my files are either .m4a or mp3, when i select a file, a box pops up saying 'Transcoding: Unknown video codec:png' and eventually the message saying 'Playback failed'.
Any ideas before I file a bug report?

Yes, the new Plex skin is the default, but without installing any new skins, there are 3 options in Skin Settings, Confluence, MediaStream and Plex

Yes, I concur, probably hence LongChair's comments.
It doesn't look like it would be too hard to fix MediaStream, like you say, it looks like its just missing some background images.

It's a shame that the new plex skin hasn't got the MediaPreview view, because I quite like the rest of it.
But the poster and list view in the plex skin for movies and tv boxsets is terrible (in my opinion)
As for this strange issue with the MediaStream skin, it has to be something to do with Rasplex as it works perfect in the latest PHT.
Also wen I load the mediastream skin in 0.4.0-rc1 if I go back to the main menu and click shut down, the pi restarts and loads up the new plex skin again

if its the case, that looks like a very bad bug :S
if anyone can confirm that then please file a bug i'll look into this ASAP.
I needa check with m4a, but i'm pretty surprised with mp3 ... would you mind PM-linking me an m4a file that i could try with ?
I have not even tried playing a video yet on the new version, all I have done is try to get it to use a USB stick for storage and get the Mediastream skin working. :(
I think MediaStream might be an issue as upstream obviously doesnt support it anymore.
Latest functions like autoupdate and such wouldnt be in there as they came after they switched to skin.plex.
If anyone having some knowledge in skins wants to make mediastream cope with the newer skin they are more than welcome, we could put that in teh repository and have it released.
But it's more likely we wont have much time to spend into skins for a while :S

I am not to worried about the autoupdate to be honest.
What is upstream ?
Mediastream works fine in PHT for windows, does this not use upstream ?
The best thing some clever skin modder could do is introduce the MediaPreview View into the new Plex skin

All files play OK on PHT for OSX (1.0.11), latest iOS Plex Clients and Plex for Samsung 1.0.6 - have just tried the same files on each device, both .m4a and .mp3.
Have checked the logs, here's an example:

Regards.
I have just tried the MediaStream skin in 9.9.20 and it has the same problem.
Can you tell me where this bug was introduced so i can go back to the last version that mediastream worked please.
I hope its not 0.3.1 and I wiped it off this morning for nothing lol
Installed 0.4.0rc1 through the installer today and it's working great.
Still had to make the config change in HDMI CEC Adapter settings to have it ignore TV shutdown commands (by default it's set to "Suspend", which restarts the Pi, which then turns the TV back on), but no big deal.
Watched a TV Episode on it and everything worked well. My previous bug with TV watching is fixed.
Left it precaching so will test after work. Have not installed the Transcoder profile yet (will likely wait for a PMS update knowing me).
Hello,
same problem here too. MP3`s won`t play. I receive an error and the Raspberry always try to transcode. Error message is: "Transcoding unknown video codec: mjpeg". The Server is local and transcode should not happen. Settings for local were set to Direct Play. Watching films from remote library is not possible too. I am not so familar with Raspberry Pi and I saw another thread were transoding profiles were discussed. So forgive me when watching remote movies is not possible yet and my knowledge is only limitet in this case:-)
Regards
I just noticed: Checking “Hide Quit and Shutdown Form Home menu” in the skin settings still also completely hides precaching from the Home menu.
