RasPlex 0.4.0 RC1 is out !

Yeah no worries, we all agree and are working on it :)

@LongChair:

I’m not sure if this has already been reported, but the current release candidate is unable to use alternate skins persistently.
Each time the program reboots the default ‘Plex’ skin is reactivated, regardless of which skin was active as the reboot was made.
This is not how the latest PHT versions work, so this bug is specific to the RasPlex port.

I only noticed this a few minutes ago, as I haven’t experimented with alternate skins in this RasPlex version until tonight.
Earlier RasPlex versions did allow persistent use of alternate skins, and I just expected this one to do the same.

Tested with ‘PlexAeonPHT v3.5.3’ and ‘Night v1.5_preview’.

Hello dlanor,

Well skins should be working the same i guess.

Could you please file an issue on GH so that we have it somewhere on our todolist to check ?

I found another thing when i completely disable HDMI CEC after an reboot it's enabled again.

Can you please file an issue for this ?

Not sure it's already mentioned.

My 1080P playback stops every few seconds, increased the cache but no difference.

And when I like to switch off my Rasplex, It reboots.

But for the rest, wonderful, faster response is great.

This one is really good. I mean really. It's way faster than the previous one, and apart from just a few bugs that I've encountered during the past few days, it's been running smoothly. Fast forward and fast rewind doesn't work anymore, and sometimes there are short pauses while streaming HD videos. If I stop and replay the video, usually the pauses go away. Apart from these, this release is excellent. Thanks.

my problems with RC1:

- files that previously played not freeze after a few seconds

- turned on transcoding (20Mb) and the file plays, but the subtitles are off by more than 10sec. Same file transcodes with proper subtitles on iPad

Codec H264 (1826 kbps) 1920w
Audio AAC/Stereo/125 kbps
SRT Subtitles

Having the same problems. Didn't force transcoding or so but subtitles freezes after a couple of minutes for x seconds. I stopped watching because GUI was failing to stop with plex ios remote. Should check again if it works after a reboot and maybe a bigger cache (was it auto changed after the autoupdate?).

Don't know who the WIP image was for, but playback in that edition is broken, hard locks up. Initial setup menus had their text missing too, just selected OK for all options to get it running. I am reverting to 0.4RC1.

I did notice that shutdown and reboot seemed to work ok, and the settings were surviving reboots...

WIP versions are internal .. they are not supposed to be installed by end users

Guess I got what I deserved for being curious then! :D

I’m sorry, but I have no idea where to do that. The Github RasPlex site seems totally chaotic to me, lacking proper links from the front page to several of the subpages which I know exist, because I have separate links going directly to some of those subpages. But the only link I have which seems related to issue reporting does not seem up-to-date, and I think my reports might just vanish into thin air if I don’t get proper directions for where to place them.

Sorry if I seem overly critical about the state of that site, but it really is in very poor condition, as seen by one not involved in its creation.

I can’t even find the current release there…

That is another instance of configuration changes not being saved properly so they persist after reboot.
Quite likely this is closely related to the issue I reported on skin settings, though the settings themselves are unrelated.

Not sure it's already mentioned.

My 1080P playback stops every few seconds, increased the cache but no difference.

That's most probably related to the total bitrate of the videos rather than their screen format.
So please always include the video and audio bitrates when reporting playback issues.

The CODEC info can also be important in evaluating such cases.

And when I like to switch off my Rasplex, It reboots.

That's a known issue with this release (has affected some earlier ones too).
Apparently the devs have found a cure for it, so this should be fixed in the next release.

Hi dlanor,

Some things could be done to sort out the site for sure, but this pinned topic would have been a good startpoint or ? :) https://forums.plex.tv/topic/89379-readme-getting-help-and-reporting-issues-with-rasplex/

You can also check my signature for that :)

We'll need to clarify things on website whenever the Release is in a proper state, but we'll concentrate on fixing issues for now.

I've now registered a new issue about the non-persisting skins. You'll find it as:

"BUG in 0.4.0 rc1: Skin setting does not persist after reboot" #192

We'll need to clarify things on website whenever the Release is in a proper state, but we'll concentrate on fixing issues for now.

OK. We do want all efforts to be focused on getting the new release made, of course.
But later on that site will need an overhaul.

+1 that place is defiantly confusing

I’m moving house this week and my Pi is now all packed away in a box somewhere :frowning:

Hopefully by the time I find wat box it’s in and connect it all up again, I can report some bugs about rc2

Keep up the excellent work while I’m away LongChair

Is there any ETA on rc 2 with working music playback ?

I do not know if this is a Rasplex specific bug or a Plex skin bug?

0.4.0 rc1 - Navigation not possible in Manual Network Settings in Plex skin (reported Bug #199)

Preferences ---> Network
Manual settings

On testings input of manual settings I found that I can input the IP numbers using either the number keys on my Samsung remote or moving to the numbers with arrow keys and pressing enter.
However on completion of entering IP address I found that I could not move down to the DONE button. Also I could not RETURN to the previous screen.

Pressing various arrow keys on my remote in succession I manged to get down to the ...key (which changes to an <-- key once selected?). So it appears that as the letter keys are greyed out, selection is disappearing behind these unselectable keys...

I therefore thought it might be an issue with the Plex skin. So I thought to try another skin. As the Mediastream skin is missing its images on ).4.0 rc1 I copied over the skin.mediastream folder from the PLex Home Theater on my PC to the .plexht/addons directory on the Raspberry Pi using WinSCP SSH.

I switched to the mediastream skin and found that navigation was not a problem in Network Manual Settings using this skin.

I have reported this issue upstream as its also an issue within PHT
