RasPlex 0.4.0 RC1 is out !

Shutdown Bug Temporary fix

I discovered after changes the Device Name in PREFERENCES --> SYSTEM ---> SERVICES

from:

plexhometheater to rasplex

to

pht to rasplex

That the SHUTDOWN bug disappears :)

Perhaps the long name was causing problems???

it shouldnt be ... shutdown is fixed anyways ... will be available soon in rc2

Hi there, is there any progress on https://github.com/RasPlex/RasPlex/issues/112 by any chance?  I'd love to be able to give rc1 a go, but unfortunately I can't due to that crash.  I've attached diags to the issue, but it's still marked as waiting for feedback - just want to check things haven't got lost.

I'm very happy to retest to get more diags if neeed...

Don’t know if the shutdown update has been released yet or not but what guyldn said about changing system names seems to have worked for me. After initial install I set the system name to rasplex the also changed it to rasplex in preferences.

Is anyone else having trouble with the clock being incorrect? I've set my timezone but the clock is displaying the time in GMT. Not a huge deal, just irritating as I have to add 10 hours to it whenever I glance that way. I've rebooted (using the shutdown function  :D ) but it still persists. It's happening on both my Pi boxes so I'm wondering if it's me doing something wrong.

Yes this is a know issue ... not fixed yet

Clock works fine for me…

I've had intermittent issues with the clock and timezone issue, probably related to settings not being saved correctly?

Can we get an estimate of when rc2 will be released? I like to play music on my pi, and the bug currently making it unable to do so is making me jump through hoops to play some.

Should be over the week end if testing goes ok :)

Hello,

Thank you very much for your hard work and I appreciate it a lot, but I installed rasplex on my raspberry pi version B and it is absolutely not usable. The interface is slow, but this is strictly related to hardware and I don’t give much importance to it. The big issue is that I cannot play movies in a decent way.

I don’t have a powerful server so it cannot transcode movies. That said, I cannot smoothly playback any file. The weird fact is that If I use openelec instead there are no issues even with files bigger than 10 gigs.

So my question is: am I the only one who has problem reproducing “High definition films” (and by that I mean 1080p mkv with average size of 10GB and DTS audio if present)?

If you want I can do a video about that

Edit: just to be clear, all is pre-cached

Just to come back to my previous post.

No matter what video I play, no matter it's HD, SD or whatever bit rate, it stops every few seconds and the continues. stopping and starting again doesn't help.

No playback in the music section. error message "unknown video codec". To be sure, I tried to play music.

hi NJon,

Give a shot at RC2 which is incoming and then we can discuss that again.

Also when you're comparing with openelec, which version are you comparing it to ? os that OE 4.0 or 3.2.2 / 3.2.3 ?

Music issue is fixed in RC2 :)

I just recently noticed something. Watched content disappears from recently added deck. Haven’t compared against PC version of pht yet though.

PMS is 0.9.9.8

Actually all series etc and movies I have are in H264 codec. I only have the problem I found out on films in the movie section. The rest plays all fine.

Good that music issue is fixed.

I'm using the lastest stable release, 3.2.3. If you can solve the problem I will be very happy, my post was only to ask why I have a lot of problems while everybody say that this release is perfect :D

Even high bitrate stuff is playing well on my pi (8 to 10GB in size). Is your pi connected by USB Wifi module or directly with ethernet? USB Wifi is apparently a bit flakey with the Pi.

This is normal and has been doing it prior to 0.4.0rc1, happens on most clients that I have.
