What might explain this is that .ts files that plex generates from a recording don’t get screengrabs generated but .mkv do; episode 6 of ‘Classic Mary Berry’ is AVC inside MKV that I created as plex missed recording that episode, so I added it myself. And plex successfully generated a screengrab for this episode. Here is the XML of that file: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1daVTsDH7SYpCHoMySYTH-L_RUDSyRMEk
So it looks like plex cannot generate screengrabs of .ts files it creates.
