I have a series recording setup for Agatha Raisin. Season 3 has started showing on Thursdays, and they are showing the episodes split into two (with part 1 one week and part 2 the next), but both parts have the same episode number.

For example, the episode broadcast yesterday was shown as “S3·E1—Agatha Raisin and the Haunted House” while next week’s episode is “S3·E1—Agatha Raisin and the Haunted House - Part 2”.

This means that, once part 1 has been recorded, part 2 will disappear from the scheduled recordings unless I remove part 1 from the library and empty trash.

Is there a way around this (other than removing part 1 until part 2 has recorded like I’m doing), or does this require an update from Gracenote to correct the listings?

Yes, that would violate Plex’s primitive directive: Absolutely do not record anything that remotely looks like something you already have. There is no way to override the prime directive other than to remove the offending file from the library temporarily and rescan the library (I believe this is known as the Plex dance). I just think of it as a pain in the …

Sensible dvr software developers include a manual recording option to record by time/channel for these types of situations. Plex does not appear to be a member of that “elite” group of developers.
