Refreshing folder doesn't match entries despite .plexmatch file

When using URL commands to Scan and Refresh a specific folder inside a section (http://[PMS_IP_ADDRESS]:32400/library/sections/29/refresh?path=/Full/Series/Path/&X-Plex-Token=TokenGoesHere) or the GUI’s Scan Library Files button, entries that didn’t match when first added will not be automatically matched.

More context:

  • I have a script sends that scan request for every new episode added to folders, as well as create/update .plexmatch hint files with Season number, TMDB, TVDB and IMDB IDs.
    The folders might not have had the .plexmatch files when first added to the Library/Section, but they have for at least the past couple of scans from new video files.
  • Doing the “Plex Dance” (removing files from folder, clearing bundles, placing the files back) between scans does make them match
  • Manually selecting an entry via the Match… menu also works
    • Using the Match… > Auto Match > Plex Series however does not match, despite the .plexmatch file
