I think I have latest server and player versions.
I’ve got in such a mess I don’t know where to begin explaining!
I lost all remote access with the security alert about a year ago. My Synology DS21+ is in France and I’ve not had access from U.K. or Spain etc.
Determined to fix it this time but I arrived at my french home to find no broadband. Someone had chopped the fibre optic cable in the road.
Followed all instructions from ISP to get it back and running. All back on 13 days later.
But I’ve now lost access to Plex even on my local network. Nothing has changed. Network topology the same but my Plex in local NAS is no longer discoverable.
Where do I start? I’m mostly afraid of losing all my metadata. I know files will be intact, but do I simply need to start afresh? Help!!
Uninstall the package using the Uninstall Only (KEEP) option
Reinstall the same version again
– HOWEVER
– Click “New or Lost Servers”
– Click the blue Hyperlink
– From the new browser tab which opens, COPY the claim token.
– Return to the installation tab
– PASTE the token in the box on the form. (do this quickly – there is a 5 minute time limit)
– Click NEXT NEXT DONE
It will install the software and get fresh credentials from plex.tv
When complete and successful,
– It will show your Plex Username
– It will show your email
I hope you understand I feel very nervous about doing this!
So much potential for error and to dig an even deeper hole!
I am only a little technical and wish it was all much easier.
One of my concerns is that all me hand created images and metadata links will be lost.
Spent a long time collecting and correcting these.
Before I attempt this, could you just tell me if there are pitfalls and what to avoid?
I have no idea what Plex version I have but there was no reminder to update when I got to the system on 4/5/23.
Do I feel brave enough? Not sure. Maybe easier after all to just keep the files on a portable SDD and connect directly! Seemed a good idea at the time but I am finding NAS/Plex all a bit stressful and prone to errors.
But thanks for your advice. I DO appreciate it, even if I am but fed up with things constantly not working.
Thanks for trying to help me.
I shall give this a go when I have time to concentrate on this issue.
Leaving France again in a week and so much else to do! Back in August.
Thank you for your help. My internal network WiFi Plex is now up and running.
But I still cannot see any of my NAS files from outside my network. Remote access seems to be enabled and I have turned on Quick Connect again–even though I thought this might be a security risk. My NAS is in France and I should like to access Plex and my files from around the world. But to be safe and secure too?
Can you advise further? If I can hear my Plex audio collection from any location it would be a big step forward. 1 year and a half ago I could listen to my Plexed CD collection in my car! Thanks again.
