Can't claim server Synology NAS

Server Version#: 1.32.8.7639-7000

I have had a Plex server working for years on my Synology NAS (DS920+ on DSM 7.0-41890), I was recently trying to get remote access working, and promptly lost all access to the server so I uninstalled PMS and reinstalled. Every time I try to reclaim the server it gives me errors, either on setup screen or in Settings. At the server address (http://ipaddress:32400/web) it has an exclamation mark by the NAS in sources, and when I press claim server it takes me to settings, and when I click the claim server button it spins an arrow for a split second then resets without claiming the server. Not sure if it is relevant but by the server version on this settings screen, it shows there is an update available although I am on the most recent (apart from Beta) version I believe?

Permissions are all set correctly on the folder and they were before. I’m thinking it’s related to where I was trying to open up a port on my router for remote access but Im’ not sure why I cannot connect at all? All my media is in a shared folder Homes>Plex>media folders, and I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling PMS a few times.

Thanks,

In DSM 7, user “Plex” is completely abandoned.

  1. The new username, PlexMediaServer, will not be able to access the media in Homes.
It’s urged you create a global shared folder (“media” ?) and move all media files there

  2. It’s important that the NAS LAN address and your computer LAN address are on the same subnet in order to claim it when using the browser

  3. Another way to claim the server is using the “Plex Claim Token” during package installation.

Setting Permissions changed as well. Again, user “Plex” is abandoned and no longer applicable

Thanks, so I created a new shared folder called Media, and put a folder Movies within it with one movie in it. I followed the instructions to enable permissions for PlexMediaServer, and still the same problem. I cannot claim using the claim token either.

Stop Plex

Using FileStation, navigate to PlexMediaServer / AppData / Plex Media Server

Right-click ‘Logs’ → ‘Compress to Logs.zip’

When that completes, download it to your computer and then attach Logs.zip here

ok attaching here…not sure if it is relevant but I see I have a folder called Plex with a migration log in it. Also to confirm that this server was working perfectly for a few years until recently.

Thanks so much!

Logs.zip (313.7 KB)

  1. Migration.log is the installer output log when you upgraded from DSM 6 → DSM 7.
It contains verification that everything that happened

  2. Your logs are showing me the Syno can’t connect to Plex.tv using HTTPS at all. It’s being denied (harshly after only 2 milliseconds)

Jan 10, 2024 14:58:36.697 [140107613911864] WARN - [HttpClient/HCl#162] HTTP error requesting GET https://plex.tv/api/v2/features?X-Plex-Token=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxt to server) (Failed to connect to plex.tv port 443 after 2 ms: Couldn’t connect to server)

  • Syno Clock out of sync with network time ??
  1. Your LAN and the Internet WAN IP I see for you are IPv4 but your syno is configured for IPv6. Is there a need for this ?

I tried a complete reinstall of PMS, removing the previous app data etc, and I was able to reclaim the server! It is scanning library files now. However I still don’t have remote access, it is showing an exclamation mark by the remote access settings. I have opened port 32400 on wan and lan in my router, and the ip address etc.
