[RELEASE] OpenPHT 1.7.1

Yes, that’s how I started the PlexMix in OpenPHT (via pressing C on a single track). PlexMix was present in the context menu and worked.

I was following those steps before, but once I clicked Plex Mix in the context menu for a track, nothing would happen… however since it was working for you guys I kept trying it… a couple of reboots and a day later and it’s all good, working perfectly. Thanks all!

HI!
I see there is build for Debian/Ubuntu, can I ask for Fedora 25 build, please ?
I am unable to compile by myself, and since I moved to Fedora linux, I would love to be able to use OpenPHT on those machines.
Thanks.

When i go to Software Update “stable”, there is no v1.7.1 - last one is 1.6.2
Any suggestions?
EDIT: Ah, its a Pre-release - ok

Is there a way to get openvpn working in the background ? I want to have the odroid C2 act as a VPN server using pivpn and for it to be running in the background and i want the odroid C2 to boot into PHT. Is this possible ?

OpenVPN is included on most of the embedded builds like the rPi, Odroid C2, etc. I have not attempted to run a server from it as that seems like it could bog down the CPU if there were many clients.

Anyone know why openPht version 1.7.1 works when wifi connection is on but when wifi is unavailable no media content is found??? This never happened in older versions of with plex home theatre? Help please as I use plex on a cruise ship as my entertainment system locally and am hardly ever connected to a network.

where is your server in regards to the cruise ship?

whats next for openPHT … have not seen much activity of late?

next version is a bug fix release, should be in the next month

the next version of Aeon Nox skin for openpht/rasplex will implement the filters/genre icons/home menu customisation features that are now in 1.7.1

Thanks for the update on next version.

Is there rough schedule on 2.0 version? If i remember correctly v.2 was supposed to have discovery menus exposed for skinners ( I’m not a big fan of useless Discovery stuff but I’d love to create Home screen and aggregate all Recently Added library types - like its done on iOS Plex version or Web app )

There’s no schedule for v2.0 except it will be after 1.7.2.

I’ll leave the specifics of the menu plans to the skinner team members. But the top level plans for V2.0 are rooted in moving closer to the LibreElec releases. So we’re likely to see more XBMC kodi features/fixes be able to be included more quickly into the OpenPHT releases.

When will this show up in the pre-release update channel for the C2?

I haven’t checked it in a while, but I’m starting to suspect this won’t be fixed until 1.7.2. Take a look at this post for a work around on upgrading the Odroid C2 in place.

This may have been noted elsewhere, but what’s the best way to upgrade to 1.7.1 while maintaining user skins/settings? I’m on 1.6.2 on the C2 in the pre-release channel, and it says there’s no updates. I’ve got my odroid really dialed in, and don’t want tot have to start from setup scratch if I can avoid it.

Thanks in advance.

hmmm… this was an oversight on our part. I thought we had resolved it, but it seems we oversought the original oversight, and now none of the C2 users have been able to update.

I’ll try and sort you out soon.

[edit]
Until we can get the update channel fixed: Download this file and drop it into your .update folder and reboot. All should be well after that.

Has anybody successfully compiled OpenPHT on Arch from AUR? I have following error during compilation[ 69%] Building CXX object xbmc/CMakeFiles/xbmc.dir/peripherals/devices/PeripheralCecAdapter.cpp.o /tmp/yaourt-tmp-eugene/aur-openpht-git/src/OpenPHT/xbmc/peripherals/devices/PeripheralCecAdapter.cpp: In member function ‘virtual void PERIPHERALS::CPeripheralCecAdapter::Announce(ANNOUNCEMENT::AnnouncementFlag, const char*, const char*, const CVariant&)’: /tmp/yaourt-tmp-eugene/aur-openpht-git/src/OpenPHT/xbmc/peripherals/devices/PeripheralCecAdapter.cpp:172:25: error: ‘CEC::libcec_configuration {aka struct CEC::libcec_configuration}’ has no member named ‘bPowerOnScreensaver’ if (m_configuration.bPowerOnScreensaver == 1 && !bIgnoreDeactivate && ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ /tmp/yaourt-tmp-eugene/aur-openpht-git/src/OpenPHT/xbmc/peripherals/devices/PeripheralCecAdapter.cpp:181:108: error: ‘CEC::libcec_configuration {aka struct CEC::libcec_configuration}’ has no member named ‘bPowerOffScreensaver’; did you mean ‘bPowerOffOnStandby’? if ((!g_application.m_pPlayer->IsPlaying() && !g_application.m_pPlayer->IsPaused()) && m_configuration.bPowerOffScreensaver == 1)
How do I disable CEC adapter in the build? I do not need it on my laptop.

I’ve been having some problems with 1.7.1 sadly, mostly with choppy rendering on the client. I run OpenPHT on a quadcore i7 mac mini (mid 2011 so Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB) with 16 gigs (El Capitan latest version) and there’s visible stuttering on panning shots in some movies (1080p on my Sony TV that’s the second monitor) that certainly wasn’t there before.

When I downgrade to the 1.6.2 I lose my menu navigation so I’m stuck with 1.7.1 for now it seems. When I play the same files directly through Plex in the browser there’s no stuttering, so I don’t think it a problem with network or graphics or cpu.

I have played around with the settings for advanced video playback but it has no effect and the settings weren’t changed from the previous version any way.

I don’t know what else I can check or try. Any suggestions much appreciated.

@l-rs I’m also on a 2011 Mac Mini and started getting some periodic judder and choppiness with OpenPHT 1.7.1 that I wasn’t experiencing with the previous builds. After a lot of trial and error re-adjusting various settings, these settings seemed to help:

  • Playback > Advanced Video > “Sync playback to display” turned on.

  • System > Audio Output > “Audio Output Device” and “Passthrogh Output Device” both set to “HDMI, Panasonic-TV” *

Of note: previously I’d had “sync” turned off. And with the “output device” options I previously had “Default, Panasonic TV” set … but turning on “Sync” in combination with switching to “HDMI” instead of “Default” seemed to help for some reason with the latest OpenPHT.

Also, I’m actually passing the content from the Mac Mini to a Yamaha receiver, and from there to the Panasonic plasma TV. But the Mini and OpenPHT recognize the TV as the device, so that’s what I always choose for “output” in the settings in my case. But it was the HDMI vs Default part of that setting that seemed to make the difference.

I might’ve also tweaked some additional settings that I’m not remembering - but I think changes to Sync and Output were the changes that minimized the problems for me the most.

(I also had some luck with reducing judder by turning “Adjust display refresh rate” on - but ultimately I ended up turning that back off as it was creating its own set of drawbacks.)

I’m gonna check it out, thanks for the tips! I also got a popup about the update to the Aeon Nox skin I’m using. I don’t see how that could affect video playback, but still gonna update so everything is up-to-date.

Yesterday I had a choppy scene but when I rewound and watched the same section again, it didn’t chop. 1.7.1 is definitely a bit more iffy when it comes to playback. When I’m home I’ll mirror your settings. Thanks again!

I had a 2011 mini for a long time as a player. I eventually replaced it because it struggled with higher bitrate files (the igpu couldn’t handle it). That said, I had fewer issues with PMP. The tweaking of syncing audtio to playback never fully worked for me but this was on PHT. maybe you’ll have better luck with openpht. Hope it works out for you.

FYI, playing via web browser isn’t going to be an apples-apples test of graphics capability as running it as an htpc.

I’m experiencing a lot of crashes with openPHT. It definitely happens with one video in particular, especially when seeking (as in I can reproduce with this video very quickly/easily) but it’s happened on many other videos too. The particular video is H264 & AC3.

I’ve heard people with crashes suggested disabling the hardware acceleration DXVA2 setting. This did not solve the problem for me.

I can provide a crashdump, just not sure if this is the right place for that.
