<If providing server logs please do NOT turn on verbose logging, only debug logging should be enabled>My Remote Access stopped working a few months back. I have tried port forwarding but it continues to remain down. it will go green for about 10 to 15 seconds and then go back to red with no access available after toggling the remote access button. any help or info on how to solve this would be appreciated.
Did you already have a look at the related troubleshooting support article?
https://support.plex.tv/articles/200931138-troubleshooting-remote-access/
Thereās also a guide with some more details on how to troubleshoot remote access issues and how to pin down whatās causing this for you. The individual findings will be important to further dig into this.
I have. Itās been a while but I reconfigured my router to get the remote access to work. Iāve set my firewall to allow plex to go through. disabled my vpn, etc. Nothing has worked to solve the problem.
In this forum that is called āoptimisticallyā which, in my opinion, is a bug - or a wrong design decision - that Plex should fix.
I assumed it was a bug considering it worked fine until a few months ago. I was hoping it would be addressed but hasnāt. Hence my turning to the forums to see if I was missing something.
Yaracuyās point is about the remote access status indicator behavior (showing a green icon while itās still testing connectivity).
Iām not aware of a general bug with regards to remote access. What about the individual findings from the troubleshooting? Have you verified your router has got a publicly routable IP from your ISP and that you can access the specified remote access port from outside your home network?
Iāve been having the same problem for over two weeks now plectrum remote access was stable on my network for over a year and a half and now it routinely says itās not working when itās working and sometimes the UI even says itās connected and Iām not able to connect confirmed with my ISP that there been no changes to my network externally and I can confirm there been no changes to my network internally. Iāve looked at the advanced troubleshooting staff document as well and I can confirm that my ports are available externally. Itās a pity because I just paid for a lifetime membership for Plex pass.
I too have re-read that article and nothing has changed from when i set it up but my connectivity goes in and out. Is there no one at Plex who will provide any help other than read the article. I consider myself fairly savvy on the computer and it was working several months ago. Now all remote access has crappy playback and I suspect it is due to the fact that connection to the internet keeps going in and out.
As the troubleshooting guide states⦠thereās many moving parts when it comes to remote access and only some of them are actually under your control.
If youāve checked the guide⦠to what outcome / findings (beyond itās not working)? With that input, somebody here might be able to assist you further.
The way you describe it. Sounds exactly like when my ISP had me with a CG-NAT configuration. I would click retry and it would go green then after a few seconds go red. I had to call and say I couldnāt reach my server then they fixed on their end. I could tell something was up when my modemās public IP started on 100. but my public ip was much different. Some ISP charge you for changing that. Just in case.
Hey, so is this a bug when remote access goes red even though you can access outside of your network? I had a new ISP recently and they provided a different modem and wifi unit. I thought I had a double NAT going on, but Iāve set up manual port forwarding just incase and Iām still getting the red indicator?
Just to confirm, once youāve added port forwarding on the router and go to retry on the remote access settings page is that it. Have I missed a step?
Thanks
