Remote Access keeps disconnecting

Server Version#: 3.83.1
Player Version#:
For some reason Remote access keeps disabling. Its saying that it can’t connect to the outside even though the port is open. Had this problem the last 48 hours. Anyone else experiencing this?

its the same issue as this. but all solutions provided there do not work for me.

This also seems to be an older problem.

I’m not having any issues with this. What’s the version of your server? What you gave (3.83.1) looks like the version for the PMP (current web version is 3.95.1) not PMS (current stable version is 1.15.3.876). What’s the details of your server, is it on WiFi, have static ip and port forwarding set, anything change recently that may have caused the issue?

My server version is Version 1.15.3.876.
Pmp is 2.31.0.967-a95b6d76
web version Version 3.83.1
everything is wired, static ip reserved on DHCP port fording set 32400 internal and external. I tried putting external on a different port but no luck.
No changes to the setup.

I installed plex media server on my laptop as a test and that works, but not on the Mac mini. It usually works fine. Ive also put a freshly downloaded plex server on the mini, but no luck. I also checked if the port was open via a website. The port is definitely open.

So how many servers you have installed and testing now? If you have multiple servers need to have different ports setup for each of them. 32400 for the public address, then 32401 on the 2nd, etc.

O, I have 1 server, I just installed the second one to check if I had the same problem on a fresh install new server, same port but different IP for the laptop. I wanted to make sure the router was configured correctly.

Provide screenshots of the Server Network and Remote Access settings. Also the Mini is connected via LAN? When’s the last time it worked and has the server been restarted since then?

29 01 21

yes everything connected with cables, no wifi.
Problems started 2 days ago. today I can’t get it to work anymore bij restarting modem ore server.

I’m not a pro with networking but is all your ip addresses in the house start with 192.168.178.x. For example all my servers and clients have iOS that start with 192.168.1.x but i do have a google mesh that causes a double nat and I can’t have any of the servers or clients on 2 different networks or I have issues. I make sure all my stuff are on 192.168.1.x.

yes my lan range is 192.168.178.x, single network. I do not have double nat.

Cant seem to find this problem. Does anyone know how to fix this besides removing the entire server and creating everything fresh?

I and my friends who watch on my server will loose all progress.
Any plex support staff here?

Have thought tried rebooting the router, mini and Plex Server?

Of course. several times. The server and player are both running on the Mac mini.

Have ipv6 off on both the router and the server and options like the pic?

everything is setup the same as in your screen shot.

Anyone else have any ideas?

As I understand it, Plex on the Mac Mini doesn’t work but Plex on the laptop (on the same network) does run Plex fine. Correct?

If so …

  1. Busaman_VA supplied a screenshot and you said your settings match. In the screenshot Busaman_VA has “secure connection” set to “required”. Have you tried changing it to “preferred”?

  2. In your Mac Mini Mac OS X - Security & Privacy settings, Firewall, Firewall options are you blocking all connections? Do you have an “allow incoming connections” for Plex in the box there? Have any other settings checked in there?

correct. I only installed a plex server on the laptop to check if the port forwarding worked.

  1. changed it to “preferred”. restarted everything. No change.
  2. Firewall is off. Always was.

thanks for helping.

At the moment I am copying the plist and plex media server folder from the application support to the laptop. If that installation keeps working with the watch progress data intact ill remove the plex server installation on the Mac mini and f put a fresh install on it. then copy everything back.
The rsync is taking hours so far. 3 million small files. fairly large installation.

I’m having the same issue with my mac. It’s been running fine for over a year with the same network settings, but now remote access keeps disabling. The other day I restarted plex to correct the problem, but I just found clicking “enable remote access” reconnected it. Strangely clicking “apply” next to the port broke the connection again. Then clicking “enable remote access” fixed it again. It seems random.

I can verify port forwarding is working as expected because I’m currently screen sharing the mac remotely.
