Remote issues after QuTS 5.2.2.2952 installation

Server Version#: 1.41.2.9200
Player Version#: All remote clients

All my remote clients are able to access my server in terms of seeing the media that’s there but ALL are unable to play anything.

This does seem to have occured at the same time as I upgraded to the QuTS 5.2.2.2952 version. The previous version I had was 5.2.1.2929 and all seemed fine on that.

Can anybody else confirm this please as I’m unsure where to look - QNap / Plex / Router or (worst case) ISP…

Thanks.

@ChuckPa

Why don’t you try to roll back to the previous firmware h5.2.1.2929 to see if this solves the issue ?
if that works, try reinstalling h5.2.2.2952 and see if the problem still exists
OR
You can try installing the latest plex on top of the current installation.
DONT REMOVE Plex under any circumstance or your database and settings will be lost

Thanks for the suggestions.

I didn’t want to roll back the QuTS version without getting some kind of confirmation one way or the other first.

I have tried re-installing the latest Plex over the top with no success.

However - This has worked: -

The Qnap has two active NICs (1x2.5G onboard & 1x10G QM2 card). Plex was configured to accept connections on either.

I have changed my port fowarding rule which was targetting the 2.5G NIC to point at the 10G NIC instead and everything has come back to normal. I’ve also now configured Plex to specifically use that 10G NIC too (just so everything is hard-set).

My worry is that this was perhaps time based and might simply re-occur.

However, for now, everything seems good again.

Ok
I have a couple of spare hours right now.
I will update to the latest firmware and let you know what happens
I only have one active 10G NIC

Ok, I updated to the latest QuTS without any issues.
Plex works normally for both home and remote access.
The issue you had was probably having to do with having 2 active NICs.
Is there a reason to have 2 different NICs for Plex in your user scenario?

I don’t strictly need 2 NICs but it shouldn’t be causing an issue either (and hasn’t for the last 18months or so).

My assumption here is that Qnap/Plex is doing something odd like accepting traffic inbound on the 2.5G NIC but then trying to send/reply using the 10G…and then the remote end is seeing this as unsolicited traffic perhaps…
