Thanks for the heads up, I am doing that now
The logic currently implemented here is as follows:
- if it is your server it lists the server name underneath
- if it is a shared library from someone elseās server/account it lists their username
This was done to try and give a bit of clarity for the case where you have multiple servers all with the same library naming (example: a āMoviesā library)
Agreed!
I donāt hate it as much as most of yāall. I had to look at some Reddits and forums to get to where I needed to go, but now that Iāve managed to figure this out, I donāt mind a lot of it.
I agree the library movement was my biggest frustration and itās still a couple of steps too long to get there. BUT - I do like being able to favorite and reorder the library so I can get to the shows and movies I return to. This may have been a function in the past but I could never get it to stick in the previous versions and scrolling all the way down to shows starting with the letter āVā was annoying, especially since they never stayed on my watchlist. The thought behind it is sound and I like it, but having the library more easily visible would be much more convenient.
Playlists could also be more easily accessible. I find playlists when I get to a specific show and it tells me what playlists I put them in, but I canāt seem to find a general Playlists option to see them all - this was a feature I appreciated before.
I canāt find my music at all. I would appreciate that being more easily findable since Iām reading on here that people still can find theirs. Iām not interested in the Plex Music app.
I do like the use of TV series and movie logos.
I also need to say that I donāt use Plex to share with family members or friends anymore. I used to until I realized nobody gives a crap about my TV library. So now itās just a way for me to watch my digital backups of the hardcopy I have stored. Itās just for my own personal āstreaming channel.ā So for me, the changes are minimally frustrating. Iāll get used to it. But for those of you who use Plex on more detailed and complex levels and share it with others, I totally feel you.
Literally NO ONE LIKES OR WANTS THIS BS UPDATE!!!
Fng Roll it back, or give users the option for the old UI!!
Even Teamviewer and MalwareBytes gave the option to keep using their old UI with a toggle button. You can do the same.
Donāt be like 343 with Halo 5 saying ālove it or leave, we donāt careā that killed the Halo fan base and the franchise. that mentality will be your downfall, and paying subscribers will demand their money back.
Fix this s**t right F**g now!!! add the old UI as an option, or roll it back! Not tomorrow, not next week, not next month, RIGHT NOW!!! And NEVER bring this BS UI back!!!
I keep posting here because every time I open the Roku app my blood boils!!!
I get the people at Plex are trying to move away from local media servers to āinsert lousy streaming service full of adās hereā but I just donāt believe it will work. I really think they are underestimating how many customers they get because, those of us running servers tell/share with out friends. Without that pipeline this is a dead product.
Absolutely. Feels like itās being forgotten that those of us running servers represent up to fourteen other users we brought with us, who will leave with us when we go. They didnāt come here because Plexās ad driven systems were appealing (though I do know some of my users use them). They came because I set up my media for them, and found some other stuff. But look at the state of things. If I go, my 9 people go with me, because nothing Plex offers is more appealing than that to anyone.
@McWanke Are you planning to bring this abomination to the web gui? If so I think thatāll be the end of my time with Plex. This is really sad, itās almost like youāre actively trying to sink the ship. If that is the goal, to end Plex, then I suppose youāre doing a great job ending it quickly.
This UI is a mess.
It adds many more clicks to get where I want to go. My family almost exclusively uses playlists. I always had the āplaylistsā tab pinned to the top of my sidebar. Now, I have to do a bunch of extra clicks to get to the playlists of one library, then exit out and repeat the process to get to the playlists of a different library.
With Plex, I donāt care about it being pretty. None of my users care. Every single person on my server HATES this update. So I think itās safe to say that most Plex users probably feel the same. The only thing that matters with the UI being able to quickly navigate and find what I want.
Please, give us an option to change our UI back to the old functionality. Minimum number of clicks and fastest load times to get to my media/playlists, thatās all that matters. This is a nightmare on Roku.
Hmm, letās see. Cracker Barrel, Bud Light, Microsoft Windows 8, etc, etc.
Been a Plex client for years, but your attitude towards this disaster just
shows a real void in your professional business model. Your Z Gen UX cesspool
have no clue how to keep your client base happy, but more importantly,
couldnāt care less. Iām going to give this little side circus 7 days to put the
adults back in charge, and right this ship, or losing half your client base will
be the least of your worries. Tick-Tock.
Donāt hold your breath. Weāve been waiting since May for this to be reversed.
The new UI is awful. I want the side bar back. Give me a more usable experience. I want to easily watch a show, not mess about trying to navigate the turd you have recently released with many more menu navigations. My family hate the new UI, my kids couldnāt find a show today and just gave up and watched YouTube.
āat this time we arenāt planning on rolling back this updateā - thatās a shame, the old app was usable.
New Bug - Fast Forward (FF)
Last evening, when you press FF you no longer hear the click, which is not a problem except you initially thinking you have not pressed the button. The real problem is when you lift off the button the show does not start. Very frequently. You have to double click the FF and sometimes it starts. But also, In some cases the sound is not there when it stops. So you press FF again in hopes it fixes everything. Sometimes it does and other times it doesnāt. You have to just keep trying.
I have rebooted Roku and Plex when it provides the restart option, however, in the above case Plex did not offer a restart.
Iām not a beta tester, and forcing an Android UI on TV users is ridiculous. I wonāt ask you to rethink corporate decisions. Instead like many other TV users we will abandon you, as you have us. Next time you want beta tester s, at least warn us, give us documentation, and plenty of online support. NOT TOTAL SILENCE!
I can get used to a worse UX. I can wait for numerous bugs to be fixed. But I canāt accept the removal of existing features without good reason.
Please, @McWanke, we want this reversed. The mobile apps have already been enshittified, Roku has now been enshittified, donāt let it go any further.
That error is wayyy too specific! ![]()
This UI is horrible. We need the option to roll back. Iām not interested in streaming anything, I just want to watch my media, and this update makes it ridiculously difficult to do. I think the worst thing is having to go to a specific library to find āContinue Watchingā. I really really hate this update. Please listen to your customers and give us the ability go back.
Same problem here. Beta testing here is not fun. I donāt want to be a beta tester. I just want access to my server so I and my wife can watch TV.. Thanks Plex for the added grief in my life.
>- at this time we arenāt planning on rolling back this update.
Without a roll back to the previous user-friendly interface, that takes less clicks to get to the same media, youāre going to lose subscribers. The idea of an update is to IMPROVE user experience, not endamage the experience. Without a rollback, the company can feel free to add my account to the āwent to competitorā list. This update was not needed, not wanted, not implemented properly, didnāt go through proper user-feedback testing, and not intuitive. Please reconsider the update.
Same here, itās bad enough having the downgraded UI on the Roku which may get used once a day. The web interface, which gets more use in this household, still hasnāt been downgraded to the ānewā version. That will be the straw that breaks the camels back.
