Samsung KS8000 App

It’s nice to find out Plex provide no direct support whatsoever. Nice one. Forums are trash. So now I have to come here and just hope for a useful reply from zealots.

Plex app on Samsung TV is screwed. App loads, just shows the background. Normally I can reinstall and load it once and connect. But now even that doesn’t work. Other apps (iOS etc) work fine.

I have that sinking feeling that this is a total waste of time. Bring on the hoops to jump through. Let me guess, this is Samsung’s fault.

Do you have a heavy load on your Plex server?
Have you reboot the TV by holding power down while on until the Samsung screen appears?

Zero Load
Yes. I have tried rebooting the TV.

You just have the 1 Samsung?
Is it hardwired or WiFi?

Yes, just the one UE55KS8000. Do you think buying a second one would help?

It’s on WiFi

No having a second similar client would allow you to troubleshoot and isolate the issue. I have a few Samsung devices so if one is acting up I can figure out if it’s specific to the device.

Do all other apps work no prob on the Samsung?

YouTube, Netflix, 4od etc all work OK

I am a plex pass user and recently my Samsung KS8000 shows a few lines of code. I trying resetting tv and nothing, check plex server, nothing.

All other devices load plex fine. This one however is one of the main TVs I use and now can’t access any of the content. Delete app and reinstall and works for a little then craps out and back to same screen with few lines of code.

I found another thread of users with the same problem. Given they provide Zero support, I doubt Plex care. They’ve had my money, so why would they bother?

We were waiting on Samsung for a fix, as it was an issue on their end. Unfortunately, it was out of our hands. We released a fix yesterday (version 3.98.2) as soon as we heard back from them.

They got back to us last week with the cause of the issue. We put in a fix last week and submitted it to Samsung, and it was released yesterday in the app store.

Try deleting the existing app and then reinstalling from the store. Make sure the version is 3.98.2

You couldn’t have posted this in the Forum last week?

I am getting exactly this sort of error since just taking TV’s offered update, before it was working fine, now on 3.98.2 broken.

OK, reset smarthub and installed, working again… will see if keeps working.
