Samsung KS8000 App

I have a KS8000 too, and buffering issue on Plex client there is only on Tizen app… no problem with AppleTV Plex client. Plex & Samsung support must fix it asap!

Y’see, this is where I misunderstood. The Plex App isn’t Plex‘s responsibility, it’s Samsung’s. So if there’s any problems with the Plex app it’s up to Samsung to fix them. Obviously this is contrary to what you’d expect, and other Apps work OK, but that’s what proves it’s Samsung’s fault.

Fo info I solved for now downgrading Plex Server (synology nas) to version 1.13.4.5271. No more problem of buffering and fastfoward jumps…

it has been many months of constant problems with about 1 month of it working good before another update came out which broke it again

Do you happen to know which version it was when it was working? We’re still investigating but can’t find anything at all.

I don’t off the top of my head anymore, I will try and look into it some more tomorrow and get back to you again.

I am feeling like the last time I had no ongoing issues “black screen crash” was before the new layout release went public.

Since posting about this I have had some things come up and have hardly used my home media servers “maybe 5 times” between then and now so I also haven’t given plex another go quite yet, I just know the last several versions were causing the black screen crash. A crash every now and again wouldn’t be a big deal but it literally turned into every day and then of course going through the whole process of uninstall/reinstall/relink/etc.

Hello,

I have the same problem and I have seen that the application works when installed, you have to link the TV) then you can use the application with no problem.
After you switch to another application (or TV), there is no problem. you can close the TV after that Plex works as long as the Plkes application is not closed. If you close the Plex application (back then confirm close) it doesn’t work anymore and you have to delete / install and link again.
The version from May was fine but my TV was broken under warranty and the new one had the problem.
Perhaps it could be possible to have a version where you don’t have to link to use a local Plex server?

Thank you
Marc

Just throwing my hat in the ring here, but I’m having trouble with my Samsung Smart TV trying to run Plex (and no one here sounded surprised). Model UN82NU8000, Samsung 82" TV. It worked before, tho we’re not totally sure when we last used it for Plex. I notice there was a new app released in September, so maybe that broke it for me. I’ve confirmed that my Plex servers work both internally and externally. I have a couple Plex Docker containers, I have all the port forwarding correct. The only thing that isn’t working is the Samsung Plex app. I was reading forum posts which have been closed and redirected to this thread; they recommended to reset the hub and I did that plus a factory reset of my TV, and no luck on the Plex app.

Smart TV my butt.

Try and set the server manually in the advanced settings.

If not get a cheap Roku or something similar and connect to the dumb TV…

Manually setting the ip address of my server in the plex app on my Samsung UN65NU6900 worked for me.

Pro tip: Reserve the ip address for the server in your wifi router’s settings. That way you won’t have to manually set the server’s ip address in the plex app on the TV every time you reboot the server.

Similar problem with Samsung Q60 Series (65”) working fine then stopped. Opened Plex on pc , highlighted Cast - Samsung 60 Series (65 ) Source not supported. I can cast through my phone via Chromecast but not through the Plex App on the TV
