Samsung Tizen Plex no longer working - playback error

Server Version#: 1.24.3.5033
Player Version#: 5.29.1

If i update past server version 1.24.3 the Samsung Tizen player no longer works. I just get:
“Playback error: An unexpected playback problem occurred” on everything. I’ve tried some of what others have suggested to disable “Allow Direct Play/Stream”, but this made no difference.

I’ve tried updating to the latest release multiple times and have to keep rolling back to get it working on my Samsung TV again… my latest attempt was to update to 1.25.2.5319 but still no luck.

If others are having this issue, then this post may help them roll back to a confirmed working server version for Samsung Tizen TV’s.

Are Plex working on a fix for this? It sounds like i’m not alone.

Hi,

I have a similar issue: trascoding DTS audio makes the video unplayable.
Plex app on XBOX works fine.

Same error I get on my Samsung Q70A… Hope they are on it…

Same issue here on both our Samsungs with 5.29.1, one is platform 3 and the other is 4. Everyone seems to be talking about the slow UI issue, whereas I’m more concerned that I was unable to watch the first two things I tried, seems a very bad build. As a workaround, I was able to use the web client via the internet browser on the newer of the two, but the older tv doesn’t manage to load the site, just sits there at the Plex logo.

Edit: Downgrading didn’t fix the issue for me, turned out to be this: Samsung TV Connection Problem - #11 by team414 - to be clear, I went into the server settings, Network tab, set ‘Secure Connections’ to preferred - not sure if that is excessive but fixed it. So no need to disable Direct Play/Stream, and also works with latest server 1.25

Edit 2: Unfortunately, the fix above only worked for the 5.29.1 on the newer platform 4, the older Samsung still has the same playback error so I have no solution for that.

Edit 3: Fixed the other tv too - I had to hold down the Back button on the remote to kill that app - reopening it, it is now using the new secure connections state.

One of my family members had this earlier today for the first time (2016 Tizen) and was just playing content fine yesterday.

Simple fix as point out that worked for us too was to set both Allow Insecure Connections and Prefer Insecure Connections to Always (as they are a remote user).
