Server Version#: 1.19.3.2852
Player Version#: 4.21.2Plex Media Server Logs_2020-05-31_01-58-25.zip (8.5 MB)

Tv is a Samsung UN43TU700DFXZA

When trying to play any video this is the error I get. The video will play fine for a few minutes or sometimes a few seconds and the video will freeze but audio will still play then i get this error.

I have disabled secure networking and did allow on same network disabled subtitles as well as direct streaming off and it makes no difference. Also it does it whether or not the tv is hard wired or wifi. also have reset the tv through factory reset with no chnage as well as completley reinstalling windows and making a new server.

Here is the file that i used when i turned logging on

Well With no help I guess I will be returning this TV when i get a chance

I suspect you are trying to play a title that has the audio encoded as DTS. You can test this by playing the same title, but selecting a non-DTS audio track - i.e. one of the foreign languages.

No change and the codec says the audio is AC3

So From what ive been able to gather i can play mp4 files just fine on the tv but not mkv files. Should i just return the tv?

I think you need to dig a little deeper. mkv and mp4 are just containers and I have no problems playing either on my Q60.

Same problem for me…i have checked if the files play on de Plex server on my PC and that works fine. So its my Samsung tv thats has issues playing files… After dugging a little deeper, i also came to the conclusion that its .mkv that won’t play. It has to be the latest update on the TV app. Any possibility to turn back to working version?

Well, for what it’s worth, I have the June 1 4.21.2 release of Plex on my Q60T and am playing an mkv title that has a mpeg2 video stream and ac3 audio stream with no problem.

Well the video codec in the MKV is AVC and the audio is AC-3 6 channel dolby digital. I also tested a movie that played fine 2 weeks ago and now even that one that was once working perfectly does the same thing its. on a old roku tv i have no issues as well as playing to phones no issues and of course pc playback no issues

I just got the Samsung Q60T and having the issues I’ve read about in this thread (i.e. choking out, audio playing an video freezing, long buffering pauses). Thing is I have 2 older Samsung TVs (i.e. Q6, Q8) running plex and they never once had issues streaming, transcoding regardless of format. This is an embedded plex app issue or something throttled back on thisa particular samsung tv. I primarily stream mkv and have multiple audio formats, which none will work. Get the same AVPLAY not supported message.

Well there is some hope I came to the Same conclusion as you that it is the app itself. They made a new app for the Samsung TVs. Its a preview at this moment and for 2020 tvs its still in the submission process. Bottom of thread Plex for Samsung (2016+ UHD televisions)

I can vouch for that.

Just purchased a 2020 samsung TV myself recently. Plex 4.29.7, Tizen 5.5 installed. The app runs unpredictably at best. Seems to play a typical long-form movie, MP4 container, with subtitles just fine. Attempting to play a tv episode, MKV container, with subs keeps causing buffering issues with the eventual lead-up to the infamous “PLAYER_ERROR_CONNECTION_FAILED”. I can only assume it’s an issue with the app itself since I have another TV with a Roku stick hooked up and Plex runs swimmingly there.

I did however try out the Early Access version of Plex on my 2020 samsung tv and it did manage to play the tv episode in question just fine other than an issue outputting subtitles. At least it stopped doing the constant buffering and never once gave me the player_error_connection_failed error message. Eagerly awaiting the new version…

Q8 purchase here and just ran into the same issue! I can play the show on all other devices running Amazon Fire Stick no problems, but the Plex app on the Samsung TV throws the “PLAYER_ERROR_CONNECTION_FAILED”. I believe an update is needed to the Samsung Plex app!

This issue has been fixed and submitted to samsung. It’s still waiting release, but you can use the Early Access for now to play back mkvs.

Saw an update to the app go out today and now unfortunately the app crashes before I can launch a TV show. Anyone else having issues?

Early access seems to work FYI.

The problem now says that “the file associated with this item it is not accessible by the server”

Did anyone manage to find a solution to this as I’m having the same problem. I have 4 Samsung TV’s and having this issue on two of them since the latest update. The other two are completely fine and playing as usual. Ironically the TV’s that are fine are the oldest and the newest.
I’m getting the same message as above, “Playback Error - The file associated with this item is not accessible by the server. Please verify that the file exists and the necessary drive is available”

Nope I still have the issue using the. New update and preview build so I’ve resorted to just using a 30 dollar roku stick which works flawlessly until they fix the issue

I’ve just had the Plex app updated on my Q7 and receive the same errors when attempting to playback videos. This has never been an issue before the update and, more disappointingly, when I remove the early access option I still get errors and cannot playback videos. Playback works fine from webpage, Windows app and Android app, it’s just the Samsung app which has the problem. Any sign of a fix for this?

I get the same error, but only for mpeg encoded files. H264 works fine.
