Sorry, me again

On a QNAP, you can only select 1500 as the lowest one for MTU, and that’s the one you should use!

Regarding missing art and posters, then those are store in the directories that failed to be created, due to your file system, so that might explain why they are missing.

When said, a corrupt file system should be dealt with ASAP, since it might spread, and could cause other files to be damaged, like your movies etc.

Start by checking for smart errors for your disks in QNAP QTS, but doubt that’s an issue, since most file system corruptions happens due to a not propper shutdown, like during a power failure

I strongly suggest, that you copy everything away from your QNAP, reformat, and start all over again

Hi dane22. Thanks for your reply. I just started a file system check. To transfer the datas to any other volume is not really possible as I do have around 20TB on that Raid 5. :frowning: After the check I will try the Raid Correction function in Qnap. Hope that helps. But I can exclude an uncontrolled shut down. Only the Firmwareupgrade from QTS 4.2 to QTS 4.3. something which included also a chnage into the filesystem if I red the readme notes correctly.

Hope that is just a guess with the file system corruption and not true. As mentioned before no space to copy all the data in order to reformat the volume.

It’s a guess, yes…

Are the folders I showed you from the logs present, and with contents in them?

the folders are present, but there are no contents.
But also not in 1 to 5. 6 has some, 7 is empty again etc.

Meanwhile the System file check was done. Couldnt see any problems. I started now the Raid cleanup. So far only 12 percent are done by now.

Contents are divided more or less evenly over all folders, and contains posters, arts, theme music, subs downloaded by agents etc.
So no wonder you are missing stuff, and Plex fails

What are the rights and owner for those folders, since that was sadly cut off in the screen-dump

And not seen this happen due to a firmware upgrade, unless the file-system was broken already!

And I’m the QNAP dude, if in doubt

Hi. Read and Write access to the Plex folder has only the admin! What kind of user is Plex requirering? Shall I change? Shall I delete Plex and install it again? Would be a hell of a work with all MP3, Movies and TV-Shows. Raid Cleanup is at 80% by now.
I will see if I can get a chance to move all data to any other volume.
What after this? Just format the Raid and copy all data back afterwards?

On a QNAP, all apps runs as admin, so it’s okay

QTS/System/Backup and Restore/Restore Factory Defaults & Format all volumes

:frowning: OK. Will see if can manage!
Is there any chance to save the Librarys for Music for instance? As MP3 files are located on another drive not within the RAID5. Not really necessary to scan all those MP3s again.

They are also part of the database/defective filesystem :frowning:

OK. Just ordered HDDs. So will see if my TS-469l will support RAID0 with 8TB and 2 4TB HDDs.
My MP3 are on a different Volume and different HDD. Do I need to format those HDD drive as well or can I just disconnect the HDD and then after the Qnap is reset just plug it back in?
It is just mounted as a single HDD drive in the Qnap. Or will the data be lost as well?

This option should be okay, unless it’s the first drive you installed, since then the System will be on that

Hi dane22,
I am just about to copy my 16TB to another Qnap. I guess this will take a while. A question. Does it make sense after resetting everthing to factory settings and format all volumes and drives to use a single HDD for the first drive with the System Settings on it instead of using the big Raid 5 with 24TB? So in future cases of File System corruption I just would need to format the first drive right?
Further does it make sense to run a Raid cleanup every month as suggested by Qnap for Raid5 System or is it also a resource of possible file system corruption?

Nope, since then your system will have a single point of failure

Good Morning. So I did like you said above the resetting thing. I disconnected my 2 single HDD drive before doing it and afterwards I did insert them again. Now on my Music HDD Qnap shows the information about taken capacity but I cannot access to any folder on that drive. Do you have any suggestion how to get access to the files again? Do I have to format it? Lucky I have a backup.
Since now the Qnap is empty, do you have any suggestion how to configure it the best in order to avoid filecorruption again?

The set up I had before was the following only 1 Storage Pool. In this Storage Pool 1 RAID 5 with 4x8TB HDD drives. 1 single Drive 4TB for Virtualstation and 1 single Drive 4TB for Music and Pictures storage.

If I do now the set up, shall I do the same or shall I use a second Storage Pool for Music and Pictures and 1 Third Storage Pool for Virtualisation station (I did not really use it so most probably I will leave this storage empty and will remove the HDD)

The thing is, that I didnt want the Raid5 to spinn up all 4 HDDs in order to have acces to the Music (which I use quiet often for Streaming) so I split the Music on a seperate HDD.

Sorry for all the questions, but if I do now a new set up I want to do it the best possible way in order to avoid any further incidents.

Create a share from QTS

In your case, I would say the amount of storage pools doesn’t matter, so what ever you want
